An employee of Hamden, Conn.-based Orchard Glass Distributors was killed Friday when ten to twelve large glass lites fell on top of him, according to a report from local police. The glass was estimated to have weighed approximately 3,000 pounds.
According to the report, Hamden (Conn.) Fire Department responded to the incident and provided medical treatment to Faustina Pena, 50, and he was taken to a local hospital, where he passed away.
Pena was working in a storage area with his brother when the incident occurred. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration currently is investigating, along with the police, according to the report.
At press time, officials from Orchard Glass Distributors, which was acquired by Grey Mountain Partners last year, had not yet responded to requests for comment.
