New Chairperson for GANA Laminating Division
John Bush is the new chairperson of the laminating division of the Glass Association of North America (GANA). He is director of laminated products and development for Oldcastle Glass and is currently responsible for the marketing and development of laminated glass products throughout the company, which includes 13 laminating plants in the United States and Canada.
“I look forward to working with the many dedicated and talented individuals who volunteer within the GANA Laminating Division,” said Bush. “With the continuous creation and execution of division technical activities, fantastic membership growth and continuing marketing programs, our division will maintain its leadership and support of the laminating industry.”
Bush started his career in the flat glass laminating business in 1987 as technical director of specialist glass laminator Romag. In 1994, he moved from his home in England to Florida to set up a glass laminating subsidiary plant for Romag, supplying the then-newly emerging market for hurricane impact resistant glass. Oldcastle Glass acquired the plant in 1998.
Bush has 10 years of experience in the manufacturing, testing and marketing of hurricane-resistant glazing and has been active in GANA meetings, participating in division task groups.
New Marketing Head at Guardian Industries
Guardian Industries, Auburn Hills, Mich., has named Earnest Thompson director corporate marketing and brand management. He is responsible for the glass manufacturing company’s brand across business units and throughout the world.
“People often reduce branding to its elements, such as a slogan, a color or an ad,” says Thompson. “But branding is the total customer experience of doing business with us: it’s what comes immediately to mind when one hears our name or sees our logo. Our brand should represent a consistent and winning experience.”
Thompson had held a variety of marketing and branding positions at Siemens for more than 10 years. Most recently he had been involved with the launch of Siemens’ first global brand campaign, “Spin the Globe.”
He is a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
