Versalux Colors
Design applications with products from the Versalux float glass line are highlighted in a new brochure from ACH LLC. The “oldest new name” in architectural glass (the original company was founded by Henry Ford in 1919, and the successor company Visteon became part of ACH in 2005), supplied its blue 2000R for the Port of Technology in Philadelphia and green and MSVD reflective for the Fairlane Plaza in Dearborn, Mich. Its gray 2000 was utilized for the Grand Hyatt in Dubai,
UAE. Technical information and a product availability chart are included in this new brochure.
Wood Railing Caps
C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. has introduced wood cap railings for structural glass railing systems and balusters to its product line. The custom fabricated cap railings are available in a variety of hardwoods, configurations, sizes, and finishes for use with ½-, 5/8- or ¾-inch tempered glass. All the cap railings are made with extruded aluminum glass pockets to prevent the wood from splitting.
Round, square or custom configurations are available, supplied in random lengths to conform to the wood lengths. Ten-foot lengths are standard, and longer lengths are available by special order. Current hardwood choices include walnut, cherry, mahogany, white oak, and red oak.
New Vistacool Products
PPG Industries has added two new products to its Vistacool reflective glass product line: Caribia and Solargray. The products feature color-neutral, second-surface coatings that transmit high levels of daylight and are designed to enrich the tinted substrates underneath. The combination of characteristics provides high visible light transmittance to help promote the principles of sustainability by cutting energy costs and softly reflective hues that produce a crisp, clear and pristine exterior aesthetic. Caribia features an aqua-green tint. In a standard one-inch insulating glass unit with a clear inboard lite, Caribia produces visible light transmittance (VLT) of 47 percent and a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.34. The light to solar gain (LSG) ratio is 1.38. Solargray features a light-gray glass as a substrate, and has a VLT of 31 percent in a clear one-inch insulating glass unit.
