Companies Prepare to Show Their Wares in Atlanta

If you’re looking for new architectural glazing materials from flat glass to decorative glass, hardware and supplies, even educational opportunities, exhibitors at the upcoming GlassBuild America Show will have a number of products on display. The event is scheduled to take place September 30-October 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

Booth 1601: Satin Finish
The newest addition to Memphis, Tenn.-based Vitro America’s Classic Line™ of architectural products is Pavia satin-finished glass. Pavia is produced using a special acid treatment process, which may be applied to either one or both sides of the glass. The versatile and aesthetic architectural glass allows light, color and texture to blend for privacy and functional design.

Pavia is available in a variety of thicknesses from 2 to 12 millimeters in clear, tinted and designs. It may be used for interior or exterior applications, and may be tempered or laminated to meet safety requirements. www.vitroamerica.com

Booth 201: Restoration Spotlight
Developed for the commercial and premium replacement market, Chelsea Building Products offers the Restoration Pro window series. According to company information, the uniquely designed system features a 1-inch insulating glass package, can accommodate simulated divided lites and is compatible with many combination latch and lock systems.

Booth 35: Twice as Nice
Two new products from JE Berkowitz LP (JEB) of Pedricktown, N.J., show how to create a design statement with glass.

The first, SentryGlas® Expressions™ decorative laminated safety glass, combines digital printing technologies with laminated glass to create an array of decorative glass products. The technology uses a proprietary process developed by DuPont that prints directly onto the (pvb) plastic interlayer, enabling photo imagery, textures, patterns, company logos and other images to be incorporated into architectural laminated glass applications. Additionally, JEB will feature its Invisiwall™ point supported systems, which it custom engineers to fit any application. Low-iron, silk-screened, acid-etched, tinted or insulating glass, as well as SentryGlas® Expressions™ can be fabricated to connect with the specified hardware. The glass is fully tempered and can be heat-soak tested to reduce the probability of spontaneous breakage. The system can be engineered to use full height or cantilevered fins, depending upon the application. www.jeberkowitz.com

Booth 2017: Testing Made Simple
Several measurement kits that can help users determine certain characteristics of glass will be featured by Toledo-based EDTM. The company will debut its Glass-Chek Pro, a digital instrument that measures the glass and air space thickness of single-, double- and triple-glazed windows from a single side. An all-inclusive low-E coating detector is also planned in the design, allowing the user to identify and measure from a single side all of the low-E coating surfaces in the glass. Other features include expanded thickness ranges, accuracies and the ability to identify suspended film applications in windows.

As a way to help architects encourage the use of energy efficient windows, EDTM also offers its SK1740 kit featuring its WP4500 Window Energy Profiler. The meter allows users to test the energy performance of operable windows that are already installed in the field. The instrument will simultaneously show the estimated SHGC value of the window, along with the UV, visible light and near infrared transmission values. www.edtm.com

Booth: 2219: Higher Learning Opportunities
For attendees interested in learning more about the upcoming Energy Star® changes, IG certification and best practices for meeting the Stimulus Bill’s .30/.30 requirements, Edgetech I.G. will host its Edgetech University (ETU) for a second semester. Course presenters will include Margaret Webb, executive director for the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance; Michael Thoman, director of thermal testing and simulation from Architectural Testing and National Fenestration Ratings Council; and Rich Walker, president and CEO of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association.

Some courses will be presented directly by the company’s experts, including hands-on Super Spacer® application, best practices for manufacturing triple-glazed IG and MythBusters structural simulations.

Several new products will also be featured, including the Super Spacer® Premium and Premium Plus silicone warm edge spacer systems, designed to achieve lower U-values and improved condensation resistance compared to competitive products.

Booth 2423: Hardware Happenings
As a way to bring more glass area to tilt and turn windows, Interlock USA is now distributing new concealed hardware solutions from SIEGENIA-AUBI. The concealed hinges allow for more glass area compared to similar products since the frames are as narrow as 10 mm, according to company information.

The new hinge is designed to meet a wide range of specifications. It can be fitted in profile applications with both 9- and 13-mm axis and features three-way adjustment and an integral adjustable turn restrictor. It includes low-wear bearings for all moving parts, an integral turn limiter at 90° and offers stability for even high sash weights.

In addition, Interlock will feature the HEMISPHERE™ folding door mortise hinges; IMPULSE™ magnetic lock for double hung windows; and NOVA™ casement locking solutions. www.interlock.com

Booth 3206: It’s a Breeze™
When it comes to custom architectural and security applications, Standard Bent Glass Corp. and Global Security Glazing, a jointly owned security glass company with Standard Bent Glass, offer three lines: SentryGlas® Expressions, Breeze™ and Transparent Armor®.

The SentryGlas® Expressions product line utilizes DuPont™ technology to reproduce digital images in laminated safety glass. With this proprietary technology, the company recently created the Breeze™ product line, which features curved glass panels with compound bends. Custom molds transform a three-dimensional digital image into curved glass with complex compound geometrics. Breeze can be used in interior and exterior applications, as well as in freestanding works of glass art. 

In addition, Transparent Armor®, a product by Standard Bent Glass Corp. and Global Security Glazing, combines glass and polycarbonates with proprietary technology to produce high-performance windshields and glazing for military vehicles worldwide. www.standardbent.com
