Strong Relocates to Tokyo
Asahi Glass, which is based
in Tokyo, has named Jay N. Strong, the former president of Florence,
Ky.-based AP Technoglass, a wholly owned subsidiary of Asahi, as president of its global
automotive strategic business unit. Strong has relocated to Tokyo to take up his new
responsibilities.
The new assignment came shortly after Asahi announced that it had initiated a public stock
tender offer for 90 percent of Glaverbel S.A. Asahi expects the new streamlined
organization to improve customer service and operating efficiency.

Castleberry Named Western Sales Manager
Dow Automotive/Essex ARG of Dayton, Ohio, has named Bill Castleberry
to the position of Western sales manager. In this position, Castleberry will be
responsible for all automotive replacement glass product sales, service, sales development
and supervision, including activities relating to new product introductions for the
company in the Western United States and Canada. He will be based in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Previously, Castleberry served as sales manager for Burco Mirrors, and before that, he was
the sales manager for ADCO Products aftermarket automotive replacement glass
products division.

IGA Elects New Officers
The Independent Glass Association (IGA), which is based in Idyllwild, Calif., has
elected its officers for the next three-year term, as follows: Kurt Muller,
board president; Marc Anderson, board vice president; and Bob
Steben, board secretary/treasurer.
