UV Process Introduces New Curing Lamp 

Chicago-based UV Process Supply has developed the CON-TROL-CURE UV-LED CURE-ALL, a lamp system that it says cures at remarkable speeds, utilizing an array of ultraviolet (UV) LEDs. A universal power wall adapter powers the lightweight, hand-held device. According to the company, even with the power supply attached, the entire unit weighs less than 7 ounces. The CON-TROL-CURE UV-LED CURE-ALL requires no mechanical shutters, gives off little to no heat and has a consistent output lamp life of more than 50,000 hours.

Ultra Bond Offers Long-Crack Resin

Grand Junction, Colo.-based Ultra Bond offers its patented resin for repairing long cracks. According to the company, the resin is extremely durable and qualifies for a four-year warranty to seal the laminate and resist refraction. The company says its own shop was a 64-percent repair/replacement ratio, excluding the repair of stone breaks.

Cindy Rowe Names Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Cindy Rowe Auto Glass of Harrisonburg, Pa., recently chose its “young entrepreneur of the year” awards, which annually recognize high school seniors who have begun and run their own businesses. First place went to Andrew Alwine, an East Berlin, Pa., for his business, Alwine Dairy. Alwine, who received an award of $2,500, begun his business as a sixth grader with a show calf and now owns 29 dairy cattle, which provide milk sold throughout south-central Pennsylvania.

This is the fourth year the company has held the awards competition, and this year it named 19 semifinalists, which each received prizes of $250. Rowe founded the competition, having begun her own business in 1980 after a 14-year career as a registered nurse, and has been named 1995 Central Pennsylvania Entrepreneur of the Year and one of Pennsylvania’s top 50 most successful businesswomen.

“What especially impressed the judges about Andrew was that he started his business so young and that he has continued for so many years to put in the hard work and long hours needed to care for a herd,” said Cindy Rowe, founder and president of Cindy Rowe Auto Glass.

Peter Falci of Dover, Pa., won second place and an award of $1,500 for founding and running Polar Sno, a shaved-ice refreshment business that provides refreshments to daycare centers, summer camps and residents of area neighborhoods.

David Fry of Ephrata, Pa., took home third place and an award of $1,000 for his business, David Fry Products, which grows ornamental vegetables with a specialization in ornamental kale and cabbage.

Three New Repair Kits Available
American Rock Chip Kits of Bonney Lake, Wash., has available three kits for windshield repair technicians: the basic, entrepreneur and deluxe repair kits. According to the company, pre-chipped practice glass is available with each kit to allow the operator to practice with the new kit before stepping out into the field. Each kit comes with enough resin to complete 75 to 100 chip repairs. The kit is available directly from the company or from certain distributors.
