Two for One

AEGIS Tools International introduced a windshield handling unit designed to make it possible for an auto glass replacement technician to perform a two-man set windshield installation properly alone. Available in two models, the Solo™ kits are comprised of a hardened steel rod to which a sliding bar and an extra set of suction cups are attached. The system acts as the second person in the set, holding one side of the windshield as the technician positions the glass above the opening in the vehicle. According to Henri Goudsmit, a division manager with AEGIS, the Solo prevents strains, sprains and workers’ compensation costs to the company as well as preventing damage to the vehicle and the glass due to mishandling during installations.

Three from One

A.N. Designs Inc. introduced three new products at the show. The UltraThin Paint Protection blades are the new UltraWiz cold knife blades available. Designed to protect automotive paint from scratches and damage while cutting out windshields with exposed pinchwelds, the supplier explains, the coating is applied heavily to the backside of the 51C1, 51C2, 51C3 and 51C4 paint protection blades where it is needed but very thin on the inside surface which goes against the glass. A narrow coated shank is designed to allow the blade to maneuver around tight radius corners without damaging paint. The blades are available in 3/4-, 1-, 1 1/4- and 1 1/2-inch cut lengths. The UltraThin Lever Knife 3008-K is an addition to this product line. It has the same feel and width as the standard cold knife, and is designed to give a comfortable fit in the hand. New offset interior cut-out blades are designed for removing the Dodge pickup truck back glass. The offset shape and short cutting length are designed to allow the blade to get under the encapsulation from the interior of the cab. It is angled back to allow the Lever Knife or a cold knife to cut around the perimeter without damaging the part.
