Equalizer Presents 1999 Catalog

The catalog includes everything from the Equalizer™ Freedom and Equalizer™ Magnum to auto glass reference materials. In addition, glass cut-out knives, blades, tools, windshield repair kits, gloves and other tools for technicians are featured.

The brochure also features some new products including the Ninja air-powered cold knife, the Z-6 coined cold knife blade and the clip saver, which removes and saves all types of clips.

 

BTB Brochures Feature Auto Glass Tools

The guide includes drawings and specifications for the company’s regular and serrated cutter blades, powered cold blades, windshield moulding release blades, controller arms and auto glass accessories, as well as its air-powered tool. In addition, the company offers a powered cold knife blade that cuts from the outside of the vehicle and operates in the BTB WK10HD air power tool. The company says the blade makes cutting safe and fast and helps installers avoid injuries.

 

 

NAGS Introduces Resources

Spanish speaking installers will have a new resource when National Auto Glass Specifications (NAGS) of San Diego, CA, introduces the Spanish language version of the NAGS catalog later this year. In addition, the catalog has many part numbers specific to Mexico.

NAGS will also publish an air manual that will identify vehicles with air bags. The company says the manual will allow installers to be aware of air bag issues before they start jobs.

 

ADHESIVES

CRL Adds New Primer to its Line

C.R. Laurence (CRL) Co. Inc. of Los Angeles has introduced a new primer to its line of Powr Urethane Products. The Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer (EPDM)/Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) primer is formulated for bonding to encapsulated or bonded mouldings, which are made from EPDM, a type of rubber, or PVC. The primer is available in 4-ounce containers.

 

Essex Unveils Urethane

Essex ARG of Dayton, OH, produces a nonconductive urethane adhesive for windshields and backlites with encapsulated antennas. The company says this adhesive will not interfere with electrical systems like many conductive systems do. The adhesive is high-modulus, which the company says provides strength to resist torsional twisting and enables the windshield to stiffen the support of the vehicle body.

 

MOULDING

Rehau Offers 26-mm Moulding

Rehau Inc. of Leesburg, VA, has announced the availability of its new 26-mm UniFit automotive windshield replacement moulding. The moulding’s 26-mm wide finisher lip ensures complete coverage of surface marks on vehicles that have wide OEM windshield trim, according to the company.

“The 26-mm moulding was developed primarily for full-sized Ford and GM truck and van applications,” said Kerry Smith, product manager. “A wider finisher lip is required for installers to achieve an OEM-quality finish on these vehicles.”

REPAIR

Glas-Weld Offers Scratch Removal System

The company says its system can remove scratches from all kinds of glass and is lightweight. The system can be used on windshields, side view mirrors and even residential and commercial glass.

 

Poly/Lite Presents Repair Products

Poly/Lite Windshield Repair Supplies of York, PA, has introduced the aluminum piston/cylinder injector and the cat bridge for windshield repair technicians. The aluminum/ cylinder injector is anodized for lifetime use. The company says the product utilizes increased vacuum pressure and uses the same inserts as a plastic injector.

The cat bridge is a bridge designed to move forward and backward, as well as swivel for ease of positioning on any break. It is made of laxon.

 

SUNROOFS

Hollandia Introduces New Sunroofs

Hollandia Sunroofs of Brighton, MI, is distributing the Hollandia Sapphire, Hollandia TVS, Hollandia Emerald, Hollandia Onyx and Hollandia Crystal sunroofs. The Hollandia Sapphire has a fabric covering that opens electrically, while the Hollandia TVS, Emerald and Onyx are electronically-controlled with anti-jamming protection. The Hollandia Crystal is a pop-up sunroof with a removable glass panel.

 

SFC Offers Specialty Sunroofs

SFC Sunroofs of Murrieta, CA, offers the Genesis, NewPort DCS, AutoPort and specialty sunroofs. The Genesis line of sunroofs feature bonded glass without any exposed hardware, a thin exterior aluminum frame, 92-percent UV protection, a cam-lock system and a weather-tight seal. The NewPort and AutoPort also feature 92-percent UV protection, a flush-fitting frame, glass that can be easily removed and a weather tight seal. The AutoPort offers two opening roof panel positions, while the NewPort has a radius corner design with a bow front.

 

INSTALLATION

M.D. Carlson Sales Develop AutoSet

M.D. Carlson Sales Inc. of Minnetonka, MN, has developed the AutoSet, a mobile installation arm that it says will allow all windshields to be installed easily by one person. The device is made of lightweight aluminum, has parts that are powder-coated, fits new Ford and Chevrolet vans and will last two or three truck lives, according to the company.

 

Mopar Offers Installation Guide

The Mopar Parts Division of Daimler Chrysler Corporation of Farmington Hills, MI, is offering a 212-page installation guide for its full line of Safeguard automotive glass products. According to the company, the installation guide provides step-by-step removal and installation instructions for all 1998 Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, Jeep and Eagle vehicles. The guide also includes diagrams and illustrations.

 

C.R. Laurence Introduces Euro-Knife

Los Angeles-based C.R. Laurence (CRL) now offers the Euro-Knife, an ergonomically-designed cut-out tool for auto glass installers. CRL says it reduces arm fatigue and wrist strain. Use of the knife places the technician’s hands in a natural position and resting on the vehicle glass during cut-out, according to the company. The knife uses all standard cold knife blades currently available from the company.
