VEKA Holdings Promotes Stucky
VEKA Holdings Inc. has named Walter
Stucky, who currently serves as executive vice president of its two subsidiaries, VEKA Inc. and VEKA West, to the position of president of all three companies, effective July 1. C.
Lawrence Irvin, former president of the three companies, will now serve as vice chairman of the holding company and the two operating companies.
DEATHS
Retired Winco Windows Co. President Dies
Warren Pfeiffer, retired president of St. Louis-based Winco Window Co., has passed away from complications of heart disease and diabetes. He was with the company for more than 37 years.
Pfeiffer began with Winco as an expeditor in the factory in 1961, after returning from the Korean War. He moved into purchasing, then to the vice president of production and upon the death of president
Woodrow Kubatzky in 1980, Pfeiffer became president of Winco. During his time with the company, Winco’s annual sales grew from $3 million to $20 million, according to the company.
APPOINTMENTS
Amesbury Group, Laird Security Systems Names New President
Rich Koopman has been named the new president of the Amesbury Group, Laird Security Systems Division (U.K.). He has more than 15 years experience and most recently served as vice president and general manager at Balance Systems-BSI, another division of the Amesbury Group with facilities in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Statesville, N.C.
Webb Appointed at CWDMA
The Canadian Window and Door Manufacturers Association (CWDMA) has appointed Margaret Webb as executive director. Webb spent several years managing non-profit corporations before joining CWDMA in May of 2000 as
administrator.
Prior to her appointment, Webb held many positions including director of administration for the Canadian Manufac-tured Housing Institute (CMHI), executive assistant to the executive vice president for CMHI, chief financial officer and office
manager—Phillip Sharp Architect Ltd., and controller for Computer and More Inc.
In the past year, Webb also served as chief administrator for the Insulating Glass Manu-facturers Association of Canada (IGMAC) and became IGMAC’s certification program administrator. Among her new responsibilities are membership communications, website maintenance and preparation of financial reports and budgets.

Huml Receives Patents for Roto-Operator
Newport News, Va.-based G-U Hardware’s product design engineer, Jan Huml, has received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the casement window roto-operator he designed as part of the G-U Swan Series. According to the company, Huml created the new crank operator design from an innovative composite material. The operator is available in split-arm, awning and straight-arm versions. The operator arms feature the company’s Guard 2000 finish.
