RECOGNITION
NAHB Honors Leon N. Weiner
Leon N. Weiner
, a home builder from Wilmington, Del., whose career spans more than half a century, was honored as “the conscience of the housing industry in America” at the 2002 International Builders’ Show of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). “Leon Weiner represents the very best of our great industry,” said NAHB 2001 president Bruce Smith in a ceremony held during NAHB’s board of directors meeting in Atlanta. “He is a ‘houser’ in the truest sense of the word—a man who has dedicated his 52-year career to the principle of providing decent, affordable shelter for the American people. He is the conscience of housing in America.”

A life-size bronze bust of Weiner will be displayed in the lobby of the newly expanded and renovated National Housing Center, which serves as NAHB’s headquarters in Washing-ton, D.C.
