From Informative Seminars to New Product Introduction, You Won’t Want to Miss the International Builders’ Show

The International Builders’ Show is returning to Las Vegas January 19-22, 2004, and the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB), the show’s sponsor, says approximately 1,400 exhibitors will display the latest in home building products in more than 1.2 million square feet of space. More than 70,000 attendees are expected and they may choose from more than 200 educational sessions covering the gamut of issues concerning the building industry. Additionally, leading experts in the housing industry will be available to answer questions in daily news conferences.

Former president George H.W. Bush will serve as the keynote speaker at the opening ceremonies on January 19. Other celebrities appearing at the show include cartoon character Bob the Builder™ in the South Hall on Thursday, Jan. 23; Las Vegas impressionist Bob Anderson, host of Grand Opening Ceremonies; keynote speaker Steve Wynn, who ignited the $12 billion building boom to create modern Las Vegas; rock-and-roll band Chicago in a private appearance at the Spike Party and Directors’ Reception; comedian Joan Rivers as a special luncheon speaker; and seventies band Three Dog Night, headlining at NAHB’s Installation Ceremonies and Annual Banquet.

Royal Mouldings of Marion, Va., has introduced the new Pro Weld II-W™, a double-hung and casement weldable window system. The Pro Weld II-W system is the industry’s first all-weldable cellular vinyl window system, according to the company.

Pro Weld also has a complete selection of all sash profiles, brick moulds, grilles, sill, sill nosing, blind stop, jamb extenders, frames and mull profiles, as well as interior trim, that are manufactured for superior weatherability.

ODL’s SmartFrame™ Comes in New Sizes

ODL Inc. of Zeeland, Mich., has introduced three new sizes for SmartFrame, a snap-in, screwless frame for ODL’s line of decorative door glass, which it will showcase at the Builders’ Show. Five sizes are now available in selected glass patterns at regular lead times, according to Susan Colville, door glass product manager.

ODL has also added new benefits to the SmartFrame product line. SmartFrame now has a softer seal, making installation by hand easy, without jeopardizing water resistance, according to the company.

Jamsill of Talent, Ore., will feature Jamsill Guard™, its sill-pan flashing for exterior doors and windows which, according to the company, is designed to prevent leaks from occurring. The product is injection molded of high-impact polymers that will not deteriorate, and the company adds that the product is inexpensive and easy to install. The system works with most door and window applications in either 2-by-4 or 2-by-6 construction and is not visible after installation.

Pemko of Ventura, Calif., will feature a variety of new products at the International Builders’ Show including its new satin nickel anodized aluminum finish which is available on a variety of thresholds, weatherstripping, door bottoms and astragal products. The satin nickel products are available in the company’s residential and commercial profile and Pemko says the products meet all designs, codes and aesthetic needs. The company adds that the products may be used to match specified BHMA hardware finishes.
