The company says the screens are invisible because they mount into the natural recess or any door or window. Reel Screen of Escondido, Calif., says it offers window and door screens that are unique as compared to the competition. One of the reasons is the use of fiberglass mesh. Other characteristics include: extruded aluminum housing, powder coating, mounts that hide inside the existing frame, the lack of need for lubrication, lifetime warranty, top and bottom piling and an Italian design. 

Additionally, the screen fabric is available in conventional, sun block and opaque styles, and can be made to match almost any color scheme. The screen also disappears into a protective housing when not in use, and a thick pile seal at the top and bottom keeps insects out.

Retract-A-Way of Murrieta, Calif., offers a variety of screen systems for window and door manufacturers. Its retractable solar screening system reduces sunlight exposure. The company also offers the retractable black-out system which blocks out the daylight. Both systems can be combined with intermittent stops and insect screens for in-creased flexibility.

The company also offers a single- and double-door screening system. The latter, which the company says is ideal for French or patio doors, has a two-finger pinch locking mechanism to keep one side stationary while in use. The retractable screens are attached to the wall and held in securely with the bottom track, according to the company.

Nordson Introduces VersaBlue Melters to 
Offer Increased Flexibility

Nordson Corp., of Duluth, Ga., has introduced its VersaBlue® 50 adhesive melters which the company says offers enhanced flexibility, reliability, durability and performance to high-volume, high speed product assembly, packaging and nonwovens operations.

The melters offer variable-speed AC motors and multiple pump selections to meet specific manufacturing requirements. They are available in 12 and 25-liter sizes and will be available in 100-liter sizes in mid 2004. The company adds that the grid and reservoir tank design reduces adhesive degradation while maximizing adhesive throughout.

WoodWare Systems now offers its DataView document imaging and document management software. The company says documents can be stored electronically in DataView, most of which will be handled through an electronic file output from WoodWare directly into DataView. Others (such as signed delivery tickets or picking tickets with handwritten shop notes) can be scanned and indexed to match up with the original quote, order, etc. from WoodWare. 

Additional documents, such as employment applications, can also be saved. These are saved in a “drawer” in a “virtual” file cabinet and folders within the drawers contain documents. Within folders, individual document types control the scanner settings which the company says assures image consistency and text readability.

Royal Mouldings of Marion, Va., has introduced its Round Top Window Quick-Trimtm system, a bendable window component system made from custom-blended PVC that the company says minimizes expansion and contraction and eliminates rotting. According to the company, this product allows custom round tops, ovals, ellipticals, octagons and circles to be created without the need for laminating. The company adds that Quick Trim has a convection heat system that allows bending of profiles in a short time frame.

Stainless Steel Hinges

ABH Manufacturing of Elk Grove Village, Ill., offer stainless steel hinges, full height piano hinges that the company says provide support for the full height of the door. These full mortise, half-surface or full-surface hinges can be used on doors up to 600 pounds with a maximum width of 4 feet. Lock edge guards are available, and self-drilling screws are standard. 

The company says the hinges can be used on fire doors and are UL listed in the United States and Canada for three-hour hollow metal doors, 90-minute hollow metal and composite core wood doors and 20-minute wood doors.

Merrill Millwork Inc. of Merrill Wis., has developed an extruded aluminum clad/wood or wood only door frame for exterior doors. The frame is available in various standard colors and the inside wood frame may be primed or ready to be primed. 

Additionally, the company says the frame may be adapted to fit the door manufacturer’s own sill requirements. Custom hinge routes and hardware are also available.
