Ones to Watch

PROMOTIONS
Amesbury’s Charlie Peppiatt Promoted; Replacement Hired
Charlie Peppiatt has been promoted from operations manager of BSI-Balance Systems in Statesville, N.C., to a newly-created position as director of business improvement at Laird Security Systems Divisions (LSSD). He will report directly to Geoff Drabble, executive director of LSSD.

Peppiatt returned to his native UK in early August, after serving Amesbury for five years. He will be involved in a range of projects to improve the overall effectiveness of existing businesses, as well as assist with the integration of future acquisitions into LSSD/Amesbury Group. He will also be a key contact for projects requiring liaison between China, Europe and the United States.

Eddie Kistler will serve as the new operations manager responsible for all Statesville operations and in the growth of Omega Constant Force Balance business. He previously served as general manager for an ASMO facility in the Statesville area. 


Simonton Windows Promotes Mark Wherry 
Simonton Windows of Petersburg, W. VA., has promoted Mark Wherry to director of manufacturing and hired Russ Chaney to fill Wherry’s previous position as general manager for the company’s manufacturing operations in Ritchie County. Wherry has served in his previous position within the company for five years, and will now be leading all of Simonton’s manufacturing facilities east of the Rocky Mountains, including Oklahoma, Illinois and West Virginia.         

Chaney is joining Simonton after holding a position as general manager for MECO Inc. in Illinois. His new title will be general manager of Simonton’s three Ritchie County facilities, and he will oversee plant operations and delivery of products. 

Thermoplast Announces Promotions in Management
Thermoplast has promoted William (Bill) Oates to the position of U.S business development manager. Among other duties, Oates will be expanding the sales coverage in different regions of the United States. Yvan Houle was appointed general manager for Thermoplast in June 2004. His former position was director of sales for the company. Thermoplast also announced the appointment of Claude Briand to sales manager. He will have the responsibility of sales for Canadian and U.S. markets.

MANAGEMENT
VT Industries Announces Executive Management
VT Industries president Doug Clausen has announced his new executive management team. Kent Barbee, will serve as senior vice president of operations, Randy Gerritsen, as chief financial officer and Rick Liddell, as senior vice president of sales and marketing. 

Barbee will be responsible for all eight manufacturing facilities and has been with the company for more than ten years, Gerritsen for more than 20 years and Liddell for more than nine.

“I am very confident in the leadership qualities that each of these managers bring to VT Industries and for the dedication of their respective employee teams,” said Clausen. 

EXPANSIONS
Bostik Findley Expands Sales Staff
Bostik Findley of Middleton, Mass., has appointed Kevin Burrows distribution group territory sales manager for California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada. Burrows, who will be based in Los Angeles, has held various positions in the adhesives and sealant industry.

The company has also promoted Richard Sturma to Western regional sales manager for the construction and distribution division. Sturma, who joined the company in 2001 and most recently served as a territory sales manager for the distribution group, will oversee sales and related marketing efforts throughout the group’s 11-state region. 

Finally, the company has appointed Scott Reedell technical service manager for industry sealants for the company’s construction and distribution division.
