John Lewis Named Technical Director for AAMA
Fenestration industry veteran John Lewis, Jr. has been named technical director for the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). Lewis will be responsible for the overall direction of AAMA’s technical departments and staff, including product certification, technical standards, and codes and industry affairs, according to Rich Walker, AAMA’s executive vice president.
“John’s 23 years of engineering management background virtually mirrors the AAMA member directory, ranging from aluminum windows, doors and curtainwall for the high performance commercial/ architectural markets, to residential vinyl and wood windows,” noted Walker. “He also brings us valuable design engineering experience.”
Most recently, Lewis was vice president of engineering for TRACO, responsible for engineering, research and development and related areas. From 1997 to 2004, as vice president of engineering for Philips Products Inc., he oversaw product design engineering, testing and building code compliance for the door and window manufacturer.
After graduating from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of science and education degree, Lewis taught Industrial Arts at Centennial High School, in Champaign, Ill. He entered the fenestration industry in 1983, joining the Caradco Wood Window and Door Co., where he held several engineering and manufacturing positions, including senior product design engineer. In 1994, he joined Malta Windows and Doors as director and vice president of engineering. Lewis received an MBA from the University of Notre Dame in 2001, graduating Magna Cum Laude from its program for working executives. He will be relocating to the Chicago area with his family.
Technoform Rolls Out I-Spacer™ in North America
Technoform, headquartered in Twinsburg, Ohio, has enlisted more than a dozen representatives of six nationally acclaimed sales organizations to sell its high-performance I-Spacer™ insulating glass spacer to window manufacturers throughout North America. Gilderman and Gundersen Form FeneRep Inc.
A new window industry manufacturers rep firm, FeneRep Inc., has been formed to provide window components, adhesives and sealants to window manufacturers in the central United States and central Canada. Wisconsin-based FeneRep Inc. was founded by two experienced door and window experts, Chuck Gilderman and Paul Gundersen.
Gilderman has more than 25 years of experience in the door and window industry. For the last 20 years he has worked with door and window manufacturers through consultative selling. During the last 14 years at Mikron Industries Inc. he was involved in a significant number of door and window design projects. He has served as chairperson of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and been active on technical committees of the Window and Door Manufacturers Association
Gundersen has been in the door and window industry for 23 years. His experience has included setting up door and window manufacturers nationwide with custom PVC door and window systems with Mikron Industries. He has also held management positions at Weather Shield Mfg. and was a founding partner of Fen-Tech Inc.
Edgetech I.G. Inc. has expanded its marketing services capabilities and hired Erika Harris as graphic designer. Harris is responsible for design and execution of a wide range of promotional media for Edgetech and its customers … Stiles Machinery Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mich., has promoted Gene Newburg to vice president of industrial sales and Brian Stiles to sales engineer.
In addition, Altendorf America, a division of Stiles Machinery, has promoted Dan Murphy to the new position of national sales manager … Simonton Windows of Parkersburg, W.Va., has hired Jeff Tringham as vice president and general manager of the company’s Vacaville, Calif., operations. Tringham will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing, sales and marketing operations for the company’s West Coast facility … VT Industries Inc. of Holstein, Iowa, has named its new territorial sales manager, Dan Hogan. Hogan is now responsible for Southern New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Southeastern Pennsylvania.
