Quanex Announces Management Changes Resulting from Acquisition
Quanex Building Products has announced several management changes in its Engineered Products Group (EPG) as a result of the company’s recent purchase of Edgetech I.G.

August (Gus) Coppola will assume the role of senior vice president, corporate development, chairman and chief executive officer of Quanex Building Products. He is now responsible for managing the company’s acquisition process, along with its solar adhesives and aftermarket businesses. Coppola previously served as senior vice president for Quanex Building Products and was responsible for launching Project Nexus, a company initiative that brought together the sales and marketing teams of EPG’s three disparate fenestration businesses: Mikron, Truseal and Homeshield. Prior to that, he was president of Truseal Technologies.

Michael Hovan, who previously served as president of Edgetech, will assume the role of senior vice president, sales and marketing for the EPG. He is now responsible for the EPG’s national and regional sales initiatives and also oversees Edgetech’s international operations and global sales. Hovan, who served as president of Edgetech from 2000 to 2011, spent 17 years at Edgetech’s parent company, Lauren International.

George Wilson will assume the role of general manager of Edgetech. In this role, he is now responsible for Edgetech’s U.S. operations. Wilson was with Lauren International for two years and held senior positions in human resources and operations. Prior to joining Lauren, Wilson spent 15 years with Federal Mogul, a global manufacturer of automotive and power generation products.

All three report directly to Quanex Building Products chairman and chief executive officer David Petratis.

Arkema Hires Market Development Manager for PVC Additives
Arkema Inc. has appointed John Pruett as market development manager for the company’s functional additives division. Pruett is responsible for developing the company’s new acrylic Plastistrength® and Durastrength® business with a strong focus in the rigid PVC and cellular PVC foam and profile markets. He also will lead new marketing efforts for both processing aids and impact modifiers.

Pruett has more than 10 years of marketing and business development experience through various positions at CertainTeed/Saint-Gobain, Principia Partners, Propex and more recently through his own industrial market research and advisory services firm Radnor Research and Advisory Services LLC.

Window World Names New President
Window World has promoted Dana Deem to president. Deem has held a leadership role at Window World since he joined the company in 2004. He most recently served as vice president of sales, where he directed sales strategy and operations. Previously, he worked for 21 years in sales, purchasing and management for Lowe’s Home Improvement.

Deem succeeds Blair Ingle, who has served as president of the company since July 2009.

Tyler Promoted at DMSi
DMSi has promoted Dane Tyler to general manager of productivity solutions. In this role, he will be responsible for providing customers with additional tools to achieve growth and profitability.

Tyler has been with DMSi since 2004, when it acquired his company, Lumber-Pro Software. Tyler had served as president of Lumber-Pro.

Daukas Named Vice President of Operations for Gorell
Gorell Windows and Doors has named Steve Daukas vice president of operations. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of operations, including production, safety, scheduling, quality, engineering, shipping and maintenance. Daukas’ primary focus is to upgrade the company’s operations area and assist president Brian Zimmerman in implementing a lean manufacturing plan.
Daukas has more than 30 years experience in operations and manufacturing and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, certified as a Lean Master and Kaizen Expert.

Gorell also has named two new regional sales managers. Carol Leonard now serves the state of Texas in this role, and David Brown is responsible for sales in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee and Missouri.

OBITUARIES
Lincoln Owner and Co-Founder Jane Bierman Passes Away
Jane Bierman, the co-founder and owner of Lincoln Windows and Timeline Vinyl Windows in Merrill, Wis., passed away on April 28. She was 91, and had been actively involved in running the company until she suffered a stroke earlier this year.

Bierman and her husband, Carl Bierman, founded Lincoln Wood Products Inc. in 1947. Together, they began manufacturing many types of wood products and components, and, in the 1960s, the company evolved to become a manufacturer of complete wood window and patio door systems. In 1994, the Biermans established Timeline Vinyl Products Inc., an all-vinyl window manufacturer, to complement Lincoln’s wood line of products. Carl Bierman preceded his wife in death in 2002.
