Nantucket Collection Gets New Additions
Douglas fir and Sapele mahogany are the newest additions to Simpson Door
Company’s Nantucket Collection exterior wood doors. The collection is
manufactured using two-piece laminated stile and rail construction with
a modified mortise-and-tenon joinery technique. According to the company,
the tenons and face-driven pins are always made of black locust, suitable
for the worst of Mother Nature, and the pins provide not only aesthetics,
but also help eliminate stile and rail separation.
The new Sapele mahogany doors feature a ribbon grain and reddish-brown
color, while the new Douglas fir doors have a tight, vertical grain and
a classic aesthetic.
Simpson also announced it is offering its water barrier technology on
dozens of new door designs. According to the company, the WaterBarrier
Technology combines a moisture-resistant, medium-density overlay with
a thermoset acrylic latex primer topcoat and PVC glazing beads on the
door’s exterior side, creating a smooth and durable exterior that resists
moisture absorption and is ready to paint.
