Showing its Prowess
Machinery Takes Center Stage at
Fensterbau
When you think of the place to see the latest in door and window machinery
you think of fensterbau/frontale to be held March 21-24 in Nuremberg,
Germany. Machinery suppliers will feature their advanced machines used
in the manufacturing of doors and windows and component suppliers will
display their wares as well. If you can’t make it there find out what
technological developments will be featured.
INSULATING GLASS
Hall 6 /6-153 Quanex Puts IG Center Stage
Quanex Building Products will debut its full portfolio of warm-edge technologies,
including Super Spacer, Super Spacer TriSeal, Duralite and Duraseal. Andy
Jones, the managing director of Edgetech Europe, says the company is excited
to introduce the Fensterbau audience to its product offerings under the
Quanex name.
“In addition to our product portfolio, we provide the necessary marketing
resources and technical service support to provide the best overall, streamlined
solution for our global customers,” says Jones.
Show attendees can learn more about these technologies including the Super
Spacer warm-edge spacer system which provides maximum condensation resistance, durability and energy
performance, according to the company. Additionally, Super Spacer TriSeal
is specifically designed specifically for architectural and captured-glazed
IG and incorporates an inner acrylic adhesive seal for immediate unit
handling. It comes complete with polyisobutylene primary seal for enhanced
gas retention and low moisture vapor transmission. Finally, Duralite and
Duraseal are available for use in single-seal or dual-seal applications,
using a unique composite laminating technology that incorporates preassembled
components, sealant, spacer and desiccant to create
a high-performance, durable warm-edge spacer system.
The company also points out that it opened its 47,000-square-foot, manufacturing
plant to keep up with increasing demand for window components that promote
energy efficiency and sustainability in the global marketplace.

MACHINERY
Hall 7A/7A-101 Bystronic Gets Futuristic
At the Bystronic glass booth, the company will focus on the future of
machinery and demonstrate solutions for fast window sash glazing, automated
window and façade production and cost-optimized solar module production.
The sash’line, offers an opportunity to industrially manufacture PVC windows
inexpensively, according to the company. The production line for window
glazing integrates the bonding of the glass plates into the window sash
production process. As a result, up to 800 units per shift can be directly
glazed without any preliminary processes and can be filled with inert
glass. A separate insulating glass production is no longer needed—saving
time and reducing costs, according to the company.
Bystronic will also feature its tps'line which “offers versatility as
an individual production solution for all types of orders.” The thermoplastic
spacers are applied directly onto the glass by machine from a single drum
as part of the insulating glass production, according to the company.
Additionally, Bystronic glass will present comfort’line—an entry-level
solution for the industrial gas-filled production of both double or triple
insulating glass units. The company says this is the first time the product
is being introduced to the European market.

than using stick-on labels.
The vertical four-point welder will feature an exclusive automatic fixture
change system and will be shown in a single line configuration with automated
unload and an inline single point CNC corner cleaner with automatic rotation
and integral dewinging.
Finally, Stürtz’ Automated Twin Head Pass Through Line will be set
up in the booth. The latest generation of four-point horizontal welder

HARDWARE
Hall 4/4-215 Interlock Gets Comfortable
European hardware manufacturer SIEGENIA-AUBI Group (SIEGENIA-AUBI &
KFV) will exhibit a new line of door and window hardware. This will include
the new Comfort Gear and adjustable rollers for the HS Portal Lift and
Slide System, a stainless steel tilt and turn system, and the KFV Genius
multi-point locking system.
Comfort Gear, equipped with an integrated tension spring, is now available
for the HS300. As the sash is lowered into the locking position, the spring
is compressed by the sash’s own weight, which reduces the force needed
to lift the sash into the slide position, making it easier to move, according
to the company. In addition, the new spring design reduces uncontrolled
recoil of the handle when the sash is lowered.
The TITAN AF-X system is an all-stainless-steel solution available for
both single- and double-sash windows. The company describes it as a truly
eco-friendly solution produced without any additional chemical or galvanization
treatments, and is ideal for harsh coastal environments.
KFV introduces the newest generation of the Genius mechatronic locking
and unlocking system for multi-point swing door applications. Featuring
a motor that is both faster and quieter than the previous version, the
solution offers homeowners the ultimate in comfort and convenience, according
to Interlock.
Interlock USA is the exclusive distributor of the complete line of SIEGENIA-AUBI
& KFV solutions.
