Elections
Mellor Elected Chairperson of BMHC
Building Materials Holding Corp. of San Francisco recently announced that its board of directors has elected chief executive officer and president Robert Mellor to the position of chairperson. Mellor will continue to serve as president and chief executive officer of BMHC—which is a 137-unit pro dealer that provides building products as well as engineering, manufacturing and installation services to professional residential builders and contractors—while former chairperson George McCown will remain with the board.

SCMA Elects New President
The Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association (SCMA) elected Pembroke Jenkins president of the association at its annual meeting on March 14, 2002, at the Peabody Hotel in Orlando, Fla. Jenkins is president of Turn Bull Lumber Co. of Elizabethtown, N.C.

The SCMA also elected Joseph J. Haggerty Jr. of Williams Lumber Co. of North Carolina to serve as vice president of the association.

Monroe Named Vice President of Marketing for Simonton

Simonton Windows of Parkersburg, W. Va., recently named Chris Monroe as vice president of marketing.

Monroe is responsible for directing the company’s integrated marketing operations and marketing research and analysis. Previously, he served as director of marketing since joining Simonton in 2000.

Prior to joining Simonton, Monroe was director of merchandising and advertising for Ames True Temper. Monroe holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from West Virginia University.

Appointments
American Weather-Seal Names New Sales Managers

American Weather-Seal of Orrville, Ohio, recently announced the addition of three new regional sales managers for its replacement premium vinyl windows and patio doors division. 
Steven Kamody has assumed responsibility as Midwest regional manager, which includes Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Western Pennsylvania and Western New York. Kamody was previously a national sales manager with Paragon Door Systems. 

Ronald Hoffman has been named the Mid-Atlantic regional manager, which will include Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. Hoffman has an extensive background in the window industry, most recently with Kensington and Soft-Lite.

Mark Roberts has been named the North Central regional sales manager, which includes Illinois, Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin. Roberts was previously with Style Solutions and Republic Windows.

Hurd Names New Director of Finance and Chief Operations Officer
Richard Day has joined Hurd Millwork of Medford, Wis., as director of finance.
Day will be responsible for maintaining the company’s cash flow and financial strategies. He will also oversee work with external accounting firms and auditors for the company.

Previously, Day spent nearly eight years at Felker Brothers Corp. in Marshfield, Wis., where he served as its corporate controller.

Day received his bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Hurd has also named Gary Lex as the chief operations officer. Lex will lead the manufacturing operations, sales and human resource strategies throughout the company. He has more than 30 years of experience in the window manufacturing industry, nearly 20 of which have been with Hurd Millwork.

Tighe Joins Snavely International 
Sean Tighe recently joined Snavely International of Pittsburgh as an outside salesperson. 
Tighe, holder of a master’s degree in organizational management, has comprehensive experience in the lumber business. His background includes positions as sales and product manager with a hardwood company and lumber trader with Lumbermen’s Merchandising Corp.
