Matyasik Joins Crystal Window and Door
Crystal Window and Door Systems of Flushing, N.Y., recently added Ron Matyasik to its executive staff. Matyasik formerly was president of Replacement Products Industries Corp. (Repco) of Bensalem, Pa.
Matyasik serves as head of business development for Crystal. He also is providing in-house consulting and management assistance for Crystal’s production, purchasing, warehousing and shipping operations.
Georgia-Pacific Names Thomas President
Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific Corp.’s board of directors recently named Lee M. Thomas as the company’s president.
In this role, Thomas will report to A.D. “Pete” Correll, chairman and chief executive officer, and will add responsibility for several key support staff groups in addition to his role as head of the company’s building products manufacturing and distribution business.
In March 2002, Thomas was named president of the building products division with executive management responsibility for Georgia-Pacific’s building products manufacturing and distribution business and its Unisource paper distribution business.
In his new role, Thomas’s responsibilities also will include the staff functions of human resources, information technology, environmental affairs, government affairs and other corporate services.
Alcoa Adds Macht to Sales Team
Alcoa Home Exteriors of Pittsburgh has added Wade Macht to its team as Southeastern territory sales manager for the retail brands group. In this position, Macht will be responsible for providing sales and marketing services for Alcoa brand Cellwood siding, shutters and windows/doors accents, as well as Alumax brand metal products and Richwood brand mounts and vents in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
Macht will also be involved in market development for the retail brands group through two-step distributors and lumberyard channels.
The company also recently announced the addition of Ruben A. Robles as vice president of business development and retail brands. Robles will provide strategic direction for the retails brand group and assist in developing new growth initiatives. In addition, Jeff Peskowitz has been named director of marketing and sales for the retail brands group. He will oversee sales efforts and direct all facets of marketing for each of the brands within the group.

Ray Yarbrough, formerly of Yarbrough Lumber Co., has joined the company’s Laurel, Miss., office. Barb Schroeder has joined Dury Cords to form the company’s Southern California office. Schroeder joins the company from Ganahl Lumber Co. and Cords from United Wholesale. Mark Elder has joined the home office in Seattle. He formerly was with Vermilion Lumber Sales and Elder Forest Products in Lafayette, La. Jorge Teran is starting a new LowGradeLumber office in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Conine Becomes NAHB President
Kent Conine, a home and apartment builder from Dallas, was elected 2003 president of the 205,000-member National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) of Washington, D.C., during the association’s annual convention in January.
Conine is president of Conine Residential Group, which specializes in single-family building, single-family subdivision development and multifamily development. Since 1981, he has been responsible for the construction, management and development of more than 3,000 apartment units and the development of several residential communities with a total of more than 1,000 single-family lots.
Moore’s Announces Three Management Additions
Moore’s Lumber & Building Supplies Inc. has added Sonny Richmond, Brian Muelenaer and Wayne Hargrove to its management team.
Richmond has rejoined Moore’s as the general manager in Knoxville, Tenn. He most recently worked with Builders FirstSource, for whom he served as general manager for nearly ten years. Prior to that, Richmond held numerous management positions with Moore’s during a 24-year period.
Muelenaer has accepted the position of general manager in Roanoke, Va. Formerly with Wickes Lumber Co., he joined that operation in 1976 and held a number of management positions within its organization, including general manager in Wilkes Barre, Pa., and more recently in
the city of Frederick, Md.
Hargrove has been named general manager of Phillips Building Supply, a division of Moore’s, in Charlottesville, Va. He also comes to Moore’s from the Wickes Lumber organization, having served the past 12 years as general manager of the Wickes Lumber Center in Augusta, Ga.
Rey and Suzan Cano Recognized with Award
The 2003 Yellow Rose Regional Recognition, sponsored by Marvin Windows and Doors, was awarded to Rey and Suzan Cano, president and vice president of Beveled Glass Works of Malibu, Calif., at this year’s International Home Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.
The recognition program is designed to honor professionals in the building industry who strive to produce quality products and whose efforts have had a direct benefit and positive impact on the social, physical or environmental needs of the local community.
The Canos have helped establish a UCLA Latino Alumni Association endowed scholarship by founding the Fiesta de Inspiracion scholarship program in 1991. The UCLA Latino Alumni Association has now provided over $750,000 in grants to UCLA students in less than 10 years.
The Canos also participate in Project Cuddle, a non-profit entity that assists unwed mothers in counseling to prevent baby abandonment.
Delehoy Named “2002 Salesperson of the Year”
Precision Entry Inc. and its subsidiary Sugarcreek Ind. of Sugarcreek, Ohio, recently named Gary Delehoy “2002 Salesperson of the Year.”
Delehoy, who resides in Hutchinson, Kan., has been with the company since April of 2001, when he started a new sales territory in Kansas and parts of Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
According to Randy Albaugh, sales manager, “Gary’s methodic persistence has paid off in successfully building a new sales territory from the ground up. Precision has a targeted business philosophy of providing a high level of service to its dealers through regular visits by experienced sales representatives like Gary Delehoy.”
