Floor Trusses
Builders Are Seeing Advantages to Using an All-Wood Floor Truss
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Universal Forest Products Inc. says sales of its innovative Open Joist 2000® floor trusses are accelerating as builders are discovering the advantages to using Open Joist 2000, an open-web, all-wood floor truss.

Engineered for long spans and superior load carrying capabilities, Open Joist 2000’s assembly process uses finger joinery and a water-resistant structural adhesive that produces stronger, high-performance floor systems, said the company.

The open web engineering allows builders to install mechanical systems such as plumbing, electrical and heating ductwork within the floor frame instead of below them as with other floor joists.
According to the company, this eliminates dangling mechanicals and the need to dig deeper foundations, making installation quick and easy while also reducing site preparation costs.

The patent-pending CorrectDeck Signature Series is comprised of the same materials as CorrectDeck Classic Decking—60 percent wood fiber and 40 percent polypropylene plastic—but with the added benefit of grooves to accommodate the hidden fastener system, according to the company.
