VEGAS Education
Attend IBS and Become Knowledgeable by Viewing New Products and Attending
a Variety of Seminars
by Samantha Carpenter
Record crowds are expected to welcome the International Builders' Show (IBS) back to Las Vegas for the first time in nine years as the outlook for housing remains solidly upbeat and builders prepare for a repeat year of strong demand for new homes.
In addition to its new venue, IBS will shift from its traditional weekend time frame to a Tuesday-Friday schedule. The show moves to the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 21-24, 2003, and is expected to draw more than 70,000 attendees from 100 countries.
Organized by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), IBS is home to the industry's largest new product showcase, with wares from 1,000 manufacturers and suppliers spanning more than 200 building product categories. The exhibit floor will occupy more than 1.2 million square feet of space, equivalent to almost 30 acres.
The exhibit floor hours will be Tuesday, January 21, 2003, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (South Hall only) and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (all other halls); Wednesday, January 22, 2003, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, January 23, 2003, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Friday, January 24, 2003, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"Las Vegas is always a popular destination for the Builders' Show," said Gary Garczynski, NAHB president and a builder/developer from Woodbridge, Va. "But with the industry performing as well as it has, this year's show should be an even more exciting place to kick off the new year and get the information and education all of us will need to keep our businesses in top shape."
While at IBS there are two other shows of which you can take advantage. Technology moves to center stage this year as tecHOMExpo™ evolves into a spectacular show-within-a-show that focuses on a wide range of cutting-edge technologies and innovative products for construction, management and consumer applications. A new attraction this year, "Discovery Day," makes its debut at tecHOMExpo on Wednesday, January 22. It will offer convention-goers a full day of eye-catching exhibits, fascinating demonstrations and informative programs, as well as other surprises on the latest technological innovations in the industry.
The International Commercial Construction Exposition is another popular feature of IBS, where builders and contractors involved in commercial construction projects can learn about the new products and services in the light
commercial field.
