Diesing and Hurd Join Alcoa
Pittsburgh-based Alcoa Home Exteriors has named Bill Diesing and Darryl Hurd as territory sales managers for the retail brands group. The two will be responsible for product sales and market development of Cellwood siding, soffits and shutters, Alumax Aluminum products and Richwood decorative products.

Diesing has 11 years of experience in the building products industry, and spent the past five years selling exterior siding products in the Midwest. His previous experience includes sales for DeWalt Power Tools, James Hardie Building Products and Wolverine Vinyl Siding. As East Central territory sales manager Diesing will focus on sales in Michigan and Ohio.

Hurd has 18 years of experience in the industry. Previously, he worked in sales at Napco Vinyl and Exterior Products, Tenneco Building Products and Celotex Corp.

AWFS Young Furniture Associates Elects 2003 Board
The Young Furniture Associates (YFA), a chapter of the Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers (AWFS), has elected its 2003 governing board members. Gene Valcke of Hanes Industries will serve as president, Jacqueline Baptie of Timbercrest Furniture will serve as vice president, Tammy Rupp of U.S. Futaba Inc. will serve as secretary and Juan Morales of Contract Resources will serve as treasurer. In addition, the following were elected to serve as board members: Kent Donnelly of G.M. Packaging Inc., Lisa Csutak of Freeman Decorating Co., Gabrielle Gallardo of Elite Leather, Al Gonzales of Hanes Industries, Antonio Guevara of Good Companies and Sam Rogers of Leggett & Platt.

NBMDA Expands Board of Directors
The Chicago-based North American Building Material Distribution Association (NBMDA) has appointed the following new members to its board of directors: John Bowling, VT Industries Inc. of Holstein, Iowa; Ron Calhoun, Palmer Donavin Manufacturing of Columbus, Ohio; Tom LeVere, Schultz, Snyder & Steel Lumber Co. of Lansing, Mich.; Naeem Malik, Armstrong World Industries of Lancaster, Pa.; Bob Sparks, Lumberyard Supply Co. of St. Louis; Garry Tabor, Building Material Distributors Inc. of Galt, Calif.; and Roger Vanderheid, Lumbermen’s of Grand Rapids Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mich.

In addition, LeVere was appointed chairperson of the Specialty Building Products Distribution Steering Committee and Malik was appointed co-chair of the Specialty Building Products Distribution Manufacturers Council along with John Bailey of Owens-Corning in Toledo, Ohio.

David M. KruseLauren Names Kruse President
Lauren Windows of Cambridge, Ohio, has named David M. Kruse as president of the company. Prior to joining Lauren Windows, Kruse held a variety of sales, marketing and management positions in the window industry, including more than 11 years with the Pella Corp. in Pella, Iowa. Most recently, he served as president of American Weatherseal in Orrville, Ohio.

Baumgarten Named Chairperson of NLBMDA
Rick Baumgarten, president of Chicago-based Lee Lumber & Building Material Corp., recently was named chairperson of the National Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA). Baumgarten assumed the position at the association’s annual meeting in Chicago.

Gorell Names New Sales Manager
Gorell Windows & Doors of Indiana, Pa., has named Cormac Smith as regional sales manager for Michigan, Northern Ohio and parts of West Virginia. In his new position, Smith will establish dealers to market Gorell’s vinyl windows and doors, patio doors and aluminum storm products, as well as provide training and sales support to existing dealers.

Industrial Sales Adds Sales Reps
Industrial Sales Corp., which is based in Westport, Conn., has added the following sales representatives in its Northeast territory: Victor Germakian and Thomas Dlugosh. Germakian previously served as Eastern regional sales manager for Spectus Systems. Dlugosh previously worked in the casement and door hardware division of Roto Frank of America.

Republic Adds Levine to Staff
Republic Windows & Doors of Chicago has appointed David Levine as director, strategic planning - new construction. Levine reports to Republic chief operating officer Les Teichner. Levine holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Prior to joining Republic, Levine held positions with MarketBridge, a sales and marketing consultant firm in Bethesda, Md., and with the CertainTeed Corp., for which he served as product development manager for the window group.

Windsor Adds Christoferson
Windsor Mill of Windsor, Calif., has named Carl Christoferson manager of sales for the West Coast market. Christoferson will be responsible for maintaining relationships with current dealers and increasing the company’s presence in the West Coast market, as well as helping to build brand awareness and increase sales for WindsorONE boards, specialty boards and mouldings collection product lines. He also will work with custom home and production builders, contractors and architects to promote the WindsorONE line.

Previously, Christoferson was a territory manager for Aura Hardwoods Inc. in San Jose, Calif. He was also a sales representative for Hardwoods Inc. in Santa Rosa, Calif. Christoferson holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington State University in Pullman, Wash.
