The railing system is available in three colors—TimberTech cedar, grey and redwood, plus the system requires no sanding, sealing, painting or re-staining, just periodic cleaning.

G-P’s Vinyl Railing Eliminates Contractor Waste
Georgia-Pacific Corp. (G-P) of Atlanta is now distributing Premium Vinyl Railing™ through its extensive distribution and dealer network. 

Georgia-Pacific Premium vinyl railing is Building Officials and Code Administrators ES21.38 certified and is available in a 36-inch rail height in both picket and decorative spindle designs. The standard rail lengths are 6 feet and 8 feet; offering both configurations helps eliminate contractor waste, according to the company. 

As part of the product mix, G-P also offers a 4-inch by 4-inch by 9-foot post that can be used in retrofitting an existing deck with a wood 4-inch by 4-inch post.

NUMBER FOUR:
Builders Are Seeing Advantages to an All-Wood Floor Truss
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Universal Forest Products Inc. says sales of its innovative Open Joist 2000® floor trusses are accelerating as builders are discovering the advantages to using Open Joist 2000, an open-web, all-wood floor truss. Engineered for long spans and excellent load carrying capabilities, Open Joist 2000’s assembly process uses finger joinery and a water-resistant structural adhesive that produces stronger, high-performance floor systems, according to the company. 

The open web engineering allows builders to install mechanical systems such as plumbing, electrical and heating ductwork within the floor frame instead of below them as with other floor joists.

Window and Door Trim Kits Available
Style Solutions of Archbold, Ohio, now offers its window and door trim pieces in complete kits. Four window and two door surround kits are included in the new offerings—each with a 20-percent discount off list price, according to the company.

Window kits start with a window crosshead and keystone for up to a 3-foot by 6-foot window. A similar package to fit larger window units, up to 5 feet by 5 feet, is also available.

Two style variations exist in the door kits available from the company. Each kit surrounds up to a 3-foot by 6-foot-8-inch exterior door and features a door crosshead and keystone and pair of fluted pilasters.

Railing Dynamics Will Offer New Colors
Railing Dynamics Inc. of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., innovators of Endurance® low-maintenance vinyl products, has added new colors, including earth and sand, and a new railing system. In addition to the company’s number-one selling railing system, the Endurance line also includes low-maintenance structural porch posts and an American with Disabilities Act-compliant handrail. 

According to Dennis McGee, marketing manager, all Endurance products are manufactured from only the best materials. 

“We prove that by backing them with a transferable limited lifetime warranty,” said McGee.

Easy, step-by-step instructions are included with all of the company’s kits to allow for a smooth and quick installation.

Timeless Adds Columns to Product Line
Columns have long been used to accent and enhance structures from large houses and custom homes architecturally. Available in various sizes, columns consist of a capital, a base and a round or square shaft in smooth or fluted styles.

Recognizing the unbreakable relationship between balustrade systems, capitals and columns, Timeless Architectural Reproductions of Cumming, Ga., provides a variety of load-bearing fiberglass columns, which the company says are the perfect complement to its balustrade systems and decorative capitals. The company also offers wood columns constructed of kiln-dried, finger-jointed lumber.

According to the company, all its columns are styled after classic beauty of Greek, Roman and old world European architecture.

Turncraft Offers Columns in Any Wood Species
Turncraft of White City, Ore., manufactures both paint-grade and stain-grade columns in any wood species as well as fiberglass reinforced polymer columns, oak and hemlock stair systems and exterior rail and post systems. 

The company’s round columns may be ordered with or without fluting in standard shaft diameters and lengths from 6 inches by 4 feet to 24 inches by 30 feet. They are available in tapered and non-tapered versions in a wide variety of plan styles. Square columns are also available in smooth or fluted styles.

In addition to columns, the company also manufactures WEBB decorative windows, louvers and Stephenson cupolas.

Lincoln Introduces French Casement Windows
Lincoln Windows of Merrill, Wis., has expanded its window product line to include French casement windows.

The company says building professionals continue to choose casement windows as their first choice because casement operation and performance features allow it to adapt to any architecture. The unit’s dimensions correspond with their primed and clad two-wide casement counterparts. They also include a single operating multi-point lock that latches at the head and sill and draws the sash tightly against the frame’s weatherstripping.

The company offers six standard colors as well as a variety of custom colors in clad and primed wood. A multitude of glazing options for the French casement windows are also available.

Kolbe Offers Extruded Aluminum Doors
Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork Co. of Wausau, Wis., offers Ultra Extruded Aluminum Clad Raised Panel doors. The company says that now beautiful wood doors can withstand even the most unforgiving environments due to an exterior covered with extruded aluminum cladding and a 70-percent fluoropolymer finish.

The doors feature 4 17/32-inch stiles and top rails and 7 9/16-inch bottom rails as standard. Additional options will include 6-inch stiles and top rail, as well as an option of a 12 5/8-inch bottom rail.

The door is available with removable grilles, grilles-in-the-airspace and simulite. Kolbe & Kolbe’s multi-point hardware is optional or the door may be bored for single or deadbolt handlesets.

Style Solutions Gets Flexible
Style Solutions of Archbold, Ohio, has introduced its flexible mouldings. 

According to the company, the mouldings include hundreds of the company’s popular moulding profiles. The products resist insect infestations, rotting, decay, splintering and moisture and are extremely adaptable for curved-wall applications. In addition, the mouldings can be used indoors and outdoors and come pre-primed so that they can be painted, stained or faux-finished.

According to the company, profiles in the flexible moulding product line complement existing linear profile designs currently available from the company. These products can be used to create concave and convex dimensions, along with arches and curvatures.

Clad Product Does Not Require Painting
Portland, Ore.-based Contact Lumber says EveronClad® is its latest patented improvement over solid wood. Made of 100-percent rigid thermofoil, an exterior grade PVC that can be adhered permanently over almost any substrate, the company says Everon Clad is a finished component that is durable, low-maintenance and easy to clean. 

The clad, which can be used for interior or exterior use, does not require painting, but with proper preparation, it can be painted to match any trim color, according to the company.

The company says Everon has undergone rigorous testing to ensure that it will not chip, peel, crack or suffer significant color change or deterioration over time.

Chemcrest Offers FlexCraft Trim and Mouldings
Chemcrest Architectural Products of Winnipeg, Manitoba, introduces its FlexCraft flexible trim and moulding in either the Chem-Flex or EZ-Flex materials. These materials can conform to radius contours, arches and shapes for interior or exterior 
applications.  

EZ-Flex, which is made of a flexible, syntactic polymer compound, can be handled like traditional wood product due to its cellular structure. The company says this superior material ensures flexibility while replicating the features of wood to meet the most demanding installation needs of residential and commercial design specifications. 

All EZ-Flex foam and trim mouldings can be installed using regular woodworking tools. With excellent nail and screw retention, these flexible mouldings are suitable for all types of jobs.

Buffelen Matches Exterior and Interior Doors
Buffelen Woodworking Co. of Tacoma, Wash., offers a Mission-style interior door. This wood door is available in fir, hemlock, oak and knotty pine.

The Mission-style door was so popular that the company is manufacturing a complete line of Craftsman-style exterior doors to match its interior line—the perfect fit for any period home, according to the company.

The Craftsman doors may be ordered with one, two or three panels and with a one-, two- or three-lite configuration.

Leaded glass is available in brass, patina or zinc, and clear glass is also available.
