Lowe’s to Build a Door Plant in Wisconsin
Lowe’s Companies, Inc. of Mooresville, N.C., is building a new millwork manufacturing facility in Janesville, Wis. The Janesville Millwork facility will occupy 210,000 square feet at 2727 Venture Drive in Janesville, the site formerly occupied by General Motors. The project represents an approximate $7.5 million investment for Lowe’s in equipment, up fit and occupancy costs over the next five years. In addition, the new facility will create 100 new jobs and the possibility of additional jobs as volume increases.

The Janesville Millwork facility will manufacture interior and exterior doors (pre-finished and unfinished) made of steel, fiberglass and wood and sold under the Reliabilt brand at Lowe’s. The facility will also make new and replacement door displays for Lowe’s stores in the region.

“The Janesville Millwork facility will help Lowe’s meet the needs of our growing store base in the Midwest,” said Mike Mabry, Lowe’s senior vice president of distribution. “This, coupled with Lowe’s state-of-the-art distribution network will help provide the millwork items our customers want, when they need them, at an everyday competitive price.”

Lowe’s has two other millwork facilities located in Thomasville, N.C., and White House, Tenn. The Janesville facility will begin manufacturing in September and shipping in October. The facility is expected to produce 200,000 interior doors and 130,000 exterior doors each year.
