Seymour Named President of Taylor Building Products
Taylor Building Products, a manufacturer of entry and garage door components and systems for residential and light commercial markets, based in West Branch, Mich., has named Thomas M. Seymour president and chief operating officer. The announcement was made by Nick Cangialosi, owner and company chairperson.
Seymour has been serving as executive vice president, sales and marketing, and will continue to head those departments. Prior to joining Taylor, Seymour served in various marketing and business management positions with Owens Corning over a period of 28 years. He is an active member of the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), Association of Millwork Distributors (AMD) and the Door and Access Systems Manufacturers Association (DASMA).
According to the announcement, Cangialosi will continue as chairperson and chief executive officer.
Midwest Jobbers Announces President Weidler’s Retirement
John Weidler, president of Midwest Jobbers Inc. of St. Charles, Ill., retired on December 30, 2004. Weidler has been employed by Midwest Jobbers for 50 years and has served as its owner and president since 1985.
Midwest Jobbers was founded in 1946 by Weidler’s father, Donald. Under John Weidler’s leadership, it became one of the leading wholesale distributors of quality millwork in the Chicago area, according to a company news release. The company currently serves nearly 400 millwork retailers and lumber yards in a 120-mile radius of St. Charles, Ill., and employs over 80 people. In addition, Midwest Jobbers has been a long time member of AMD. Weidler served as treasurer for that organization for eight years.
With the advent of Weidler’s retirement, he and his family decided to sell Midwest Jobbers Inc. The company has been purchased by Jim Krueger, who had been employed at the company as the vice-president of finance and operations.
According to the release, the transfer of ownership took place on December 30, 2004. Weidler will remain as a consultant for a period of time.
IWF Announces the Retirement of John Zinn
The International Woodworking Machinery & Supply Fair (IWF) announced recently that senior vice president John Zinn will retire at the end of December 2004. Zinn will continue to serve as a special projects consultant to the fair.
Zinn joined IWF in 1981 and has served the fair continuously since that time.
Patrick LaFramboise, president and chief executive officer of IWF, expressed the organization’s gratitude for his many years of service and said that IWF would not have experienced its successful growth without Zinn’s guiding influence over the past 23 years.
According to information from IWF, no one is set to replace Zinn at this time.
Republic Windows Promotes Zimmerman as VP of Marketing
Republic Windows and Doors, based in Chicago, has announced the promotion of Amy Zimmerman as vice president of marketing. Previously she served as director of marketing.
Zimmerman has a master’s degree in advertising from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University. She has been with Republic since 1992.
William Bolton Elected to Ace Hardware’s Board of Directors
Long-time retail executive William (Bill) Bolton has been elected as an outside director to the board of directors of Oak Brook, Ill.-based Ace Hardware Corp. According to a company news release, this marks the first time in the company’s 80-year history that an individual who is not an Ace store owner or executive has been elected to the board.
Bolton is a consultant and advisor to Leo J. Shapiro & Associates, a Chicago market research company. He also serves as a board member of Bemis Co. Inc., a Minneapolis-based flexible packaging company. He has served the Ace board of directors since October 2003 in a retail advisory capacity. In this new position, he will be up for re-election in 2007.
