HB&G’s Hendricks to Retire After 28 Years
According to an article in the Troy Messenger, Ken Hendricks of Troy, Ala.-based HB&G has retired after 28 years as the company’s president and chief executive officer (CEO), effective March 31, 2005.

While Hendricks is no longer acting as president and CEO, he is still managing the Hendricks Companies, which include recently acquired businesses in Memphis, Birmingham and Mobile. Hendricks has home centers in Troy, Eufaula and Ozark, Ala., and according to the article, a store in Montgomery provides home building materials to builders and contractors. Tendura, which produces composite porch flooring, is also part of the Hendricks Companies.

HB&G’s board of directors has appointed Hendricks’ son, Kent Hendricks, to the positions of president and CEO. Kent Hendricks is currently the vice president of sales.

Jeffrey Lowinski to Lead WDMA Staff as Acting President
The board of directors for the Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) has announced that Alan J. Campbell has resigned as president and Jeffrey F. Lowinski has been named as acting president. 

According to an association news release, the WDMA board of directors determined that it was best to name an experienced industry leader like Lowinski as its acting president rather than to advertise and permanently fill the opening created by the resignation this month of its previous president. The WDMA and AAMA are currently in merger negotiations. 

Lowinski will take on the role of leading the administrative aspects of the organization, as well as continuing his role as vice president of technology marketing. He brings to his new position nearly three decades of association management experience and industry technical expertise. Working together with WDMA members, Lowinski will continue to help guide the day-to-day activities of the association’s professional staff and support WDMA’s strategic direction.

In addition, at the WDMA’s 78th Annual Meeting in Pasadena, Calif., in February, the association re-elected Chris Simpson as their 2005 chairperson. Simpson is vice president of marketing and sales for Pella Corp. in Pella, Iowa.

Dave Beeken, president of Eagle Window & Door, was re-elected as vice chairperson of the WDMA window division. Robert Doyle, senior vice president and general manager of Therma-Tru Doors, was elected as vice chairperson of the WDMA door division. Linda Semling, vice president and general manager of Semling-Menke Co., was re-elected as WDMA treasurer.

Rick Kon, director of engineering at Masonite International, was re-elected for a full three-year term as a WDMA director. New directors elected to the WDMA board are Jim Hackett, vice president of marketing–door division, Jeld-Wen, Inc., and Eric Rapp, vice president of Cardinal Glass Industries.

HVP Hires New Sales and Marketing Manager
Heritage Veneered Products (HVP) of Shawano, Wis., has announced that Mark Eggert has been named the company’s new sales and marketing manager. 
Eggert, a veteran within the window and door industry, assumed his new responsibilities in February. His first priority is to meet the WOODPORT® distributors and OEM customers to gain insight into their operations and individual market needs.

“We have an aggressive growth strategy in place and we view the sales management role as a critical component to our success. With his level of experience, we expect Mark to hit the ground running,” said Bob Nolan, general manager.

Since 2003, Eggert has been the regional sales manager at Woodgrain Millwork, where he focused on the sale of windows and patio doors to distributors within a regional market. His position also gave him extensive contact with custom homebuilders and architects. Prior to Woodgrain, he held sales management positions at United Window & Door, Hurd Millwork and Therma-Tru.

Bress Joins Georgia-Pacific Corp.
Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific Corp. (G-P) has announced that Lynn Bress has joined the building products division as senior marketing communications manager-public relations.

Bress will be responsible for developing and implementing public relations and media programs designed to optimize the company’s building products marketing efforts.
A native of New York, Bress graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a bachelor’s degree. For the past 15 years, she has held a variety of corporate and marketing communications positions in the telecommunications industry where she was responsible for developing strategic public relations and marketing communications programs to promote the industry to the public and the media
