Heavy-Duty Tools Meet Heavy-Duty Needs
A complete line of professional pneumatic fastening tools and accessories has been introduced by Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. of Brookfield, Wis. The tools are designed to fit the heavy-duty needs of professional contractors, framing carpenters, finish carpenters, roofers and remodelers.
The line of tools includes a 3-1/2-inch round head framing nailer, a 3-1/2-inch clipped head framing nailer, a coil roofing nailer and a 15-gauge angled finish nailer. A 16-gauge straight finish nailer, an 18-gauge brad nailer and an 18-gauge narrow crown stapler are also part of the tool line.
First Ultra-Compact Drill/Driver With 90-degree Articulating Head
The new LITHEON™ 10.8-volt I-Driver from Bosch Power Tools and Accessories is the first professional cordless ultra-compact drill/driver with a five-position 90-degree articulating head to access tight work spaces and accomplish everyday drill/driving tasks. The company says the I-Driver is the perfect complement to larger drill/drivers for carpenters, electricians, HVAC contractors and plumbers. It is powered by advanced lithium-ion battery technology, and is the first tool of its kind to feature a full 90-degree articulating head, according to the company.
Two Tools in One
The Mansfield Signature Series 18V Dual Drill™, a drill/driver set from Tampa, Fla.-based Mansfield Power Tools, provides users with two tools in one with a patented, revolving “grip-and-flip” dual-head design and dual keyless chucks.
With the dual-head design, the tool saves time and money by allowing users to alternate from drilling to driving with a simple flip of the dual head, according to the company. The tool switches functions in seconds, eliminating the need to change bits or carry a second tool.
FOR THE ROOF
Reflective Roof Coatings Reduce Costs
Henry Co. of Huntington Park, Calif., has unveiled its 287 SF Solar-Flex, a water-based reflective roof coating that it says can be applied without specialized training.
The company advises users to inspect the quality of the roof carefully and clean off dust, dirt and loose materials before beginning the job. The elastomeric roof coating can be applied using a brush or roller and are ideal for use on roofs less than 10 years old.
The company reports that reflective roof coatings reflect up to 85 percent of the sun’s ultraviolet rays, significantly protecting and prolonging the life of a roof.
The drying effects of sun’s heat and ultraviolet rays causes roof brittleness, cracks and deterioration to the rooftop membrane. The sun damage can result in moisture leaks and reduce a home’s energy efficiency.
Durable Adhesion for Fast Repairs and Installations
RT 600 Roof Tile Adhesive from OSI Pro-Series is a premium grade adhesive developed especially for the repair and installation of concrete, clay, slate or composite type roof tiles on existing roofs. The company says the adhesive bonds to most building materials creating a water- and weather- resistant seal against the elements. Its unique formula meets uplift requirements up to 55 feet above grade.
Bionic Wrenches Deliver a Gripping Experience
LoggerHead Tools LLC has launched 6- and 10-inch versions of its Bionic Wrench™, a new class of hand tool that teams the versatility of an adjustable wrench with the simplicity of pliers. The 6- and 10-inch wrenches are based on the company’s 8-inchBionic Wrench.
With the squeeze of a hand, the wrench automatically sizes and grips a wide range of United States and metric-sized nuts and bolts, distributing equal force on all sides of a fastener. The 6-inch wrench fits 14 fastener sizes; the 8-inch version fits 16 fastener sizes; and the 10-inch version fits 18 fastener sizes. Altogether, the Bionic Wrench family replaces 38 SAE and metric wrench sizes from ¼ inch to 1¼ inch or 7 mm to 30 mm.
It actively distributes force on all sides of a nut or bolt instead of the corners, and the wrench has six steel jaws that simultaneously converge on the sides of a nut or bolt when the cushioned, ergonomic handle is squeezed.
New Line of Flap Discs Provide Longer Life
Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. of Brookfield, Wis., has introduced a new line of flap discs for grinding and finishing metals. The discs are made with high-performance zirconia grain which provides longer life than standard zirconia.
The company says that the aluminum oxide discs grind cooler and last up to 15 percent longer than fiber discs. The discs are available in flat and conical design configurations in 4 ½-, 5- and 7-inch sizes for work on either flat or irregular surfaces.
The flap discs provide grinding and finishing in one operation, eliminating the need for the use of a grinding wheel followed by a fiber disc for finishing. The discs use a high-performance zirconia abrasive grain, which is bonded to a durable, high-quality cloth backing material. The fiberglass backing pad is flexible and provides more control for even disc wear.
