Craig Young of TLC Mouldings Leads WMMPA

At a recent business meeting on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, Craig Young of TLC Mouldings was named president of the Wood Moulding & Millwork Producers Association (WMMPA). Young is the sales manager for TLC Mouldings based in Willacoochee, Ga. 

Young assumes this role surrounded by a solid executive committee, which includes vice president Tom Williams Jr. of Yuba River Moulding & Millwork; second vice president John Morrison of Sunset Moulding Co.; treasurer Jim Snodgrass of Contact Lumber Co.; and past president Pete Delaney of Port-O-Lite Corp.

The 2006 WMMPA directors are Jeff Davidson of Weinig Group; Rick Hagel of FrameSaver; Mark Setzer of Setzer Forest Products; Ted Smith of Smith Millwork; Matt Allen of Mt. Taylor Millwork; Shirley Reel Cadwell of Regal Custom Millwork; Les Baker of Best Moulding Corp.; Leandro Mazzaccato of U.S. Superior Forest Products; Paul Turcotte of Roland Boulanger & Co.; and Dan Wolter of Sierra Pacific Industries. 

The slate of officers and directors will meet July 26-29 at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort outside of Albuquerque, N.M. 

OBITUARIES

Alan J. Campbell, Former WDMA President, Dies

Alan J. Campbell died of a heart attack Friday, February 3, in Tallahassee, Fla., at the age of 55. Campbell was the president and chief executive officer of the Florida Society of Association Executives and, for 12 years prior to that, had served as president of the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA). 

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia; three daughters, Meghan, Maureen and Emily Webster; grandson Ryan; and son-in-law Curtis Webster. He is also survived by his two sisters, Cathy Mila and Laurie Carnal, and brother, Bruce. Campbell was the son of Charles (deceased) and Roseann Campbell. 


APPOINTMENTS

Elkay Announces Two New Marketing Appointments

Two new marketing appointments have been announced by Robert L. Seeley, executive vice president, marketing and sales of Elkay of Oakbrook, Ill.

Jack Krecek, formerly vice president and general manager of the Elkay Water Cooler Division has been named vice president of marketing, North America, plumbing products division. He has been with the company for 21 years and served in a variety of sales, marketing and general management positions. 

Jeff Valles, formerly a sales and marketing executive of Phylrich International, which manufactures and markets a line of premium faucets and is a recent Elkay acquisition, has been named marketing manager of Faucets for Elkay’s total faucet business.

SierraPine Announces New Vice President

SierraPine has named Chris Leffel as the vice president of sales and marketing for the Roseville, Calif.-based composite panel manufacturer.

“We are excited to have Chris back with the company,” said SierraPine president Wade Gregory. Leffel, a 20-year industry veteran, was previously with SierraPine until 2001 when he joined the Composite Panel Association as its senior vice president.

Craig Damos Named President and CEO

Chairperson Glenn De Stigter of The Weitz Co. of Des Moines, Iowa, has announced that senior vice president Craig Damos has been named president and chief executive officer.

According to De Stigter, who has been with the company since 1968 and has served as president and chief executive officer (CEO) since 1992 and chairperson since 2002, a structure for a board-driven leadership succession process was put in place in 2004. De Stigter will remain chairperson of the board. 

Damos joined The Weitz Co. in 2000 as strategic chief financial officer. His accounting and financial consulting experience includes 20 years with McGladrey & Pullen, serving on the board of directors and as partner-in-charge of the firm’s Des Moines and Mason City, Iowa, locations.

Young Manufacturing Sales Manager Has Baby Girl

Beaver Dam, Ky.-based Young Manufacturing’s sales manager Sarah Beth (Young) Hamlin and husband, Nathan, welcomed a baby girl, Morgan Kelly Hamlin, into the world in early January. Morgan weighed in at an even 9 pounds and was 19 inches long.

Mark Eglinton has been named the new chief executive officer of Tenon Ltd., a manufacturer of Radiata pine clear boards and mouldings … Fletcher Wood Solutions has announced the promotion of Tim Myers to sales manager ... Ace Hardware Corp. of Oak Brook, Ill., has promoted Paula Erickson to director of corporate communications and public relations ... Clay Kiefaber has been promoted to president of the architectural coatings and windows group at Masco Corp, and Karen Strauss has been appointed president of the builder cabinet group ... Carl Wagus, technical director for the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), has elected to retire after 11 years of service.
