Customers are Looking for Products to Make a Statement

Getting Around
Railing Dynamics Inc. (RDI) of Egg Harbor Twp., N.J., has new round column brackets for use with Endurance® original rail, Endurance® deck rail and Novaline® railing systems.

According to Tim Berry, RDI customer account representative, “A majority of our callers are looking for direction on how to modify stair railing system brackets for use with round columns. Now, the time-consuming task of explaining several times a week to our end-users, how to alter a stair kit to fit a round column is gone.”

RDI’s round column brackets are composed of a PVC compound that can be easily painted or left white to match typical fiberglass or pre-cast white composite columns or the company’s decking or railing systems.

Mix-And-Match Fashion
Winchester, Va.-based Trex Co.’s deck boards offer curvability and color mix-matching, and now railings are available in colors that either match or complement the decking. This includes the Designer Series Railing™, which matches the Accents® woodgrain decking (in four colors) and its Brasilia™ rainforest-look decking (in two colors/finishes). The latest railing product is the Artisan Series Railing™, featuring a lightly-textured surface that looks painted, but never requires any. Style options include white balusters or the contemporary look of glass panels.

Cutting-Edge Color
Alcoa Home Exteriors of Pittsburgh has increased the color options for its PVC decking and railing line and added clay to its accessory color list. The company says the pebbled surface of the PVC decking and railing is slip resistant and splinter-free, making it ideal for porches, balconies, walkways, poolside decks and piers.

Its OASIS™ PVC is available in a variety of colors and numerous rail, baluster and decorative post cap designs. Planks are available in Linen, Slate, Sandstone and Evergreen and accents are available in White, Sandstone and now Clay.

Build a Fortress
Fortress Iron of Richardson, Texas, offers decorative iron railing and fence systems which the company says combine strength, beauty and durability. With its specialized dual galvanizing system and premium exterior powder coat finish, Fortress Iron products reduce maintenance concerns.

Driving it Home
GRABBER® Construction Products of Alpine, Utah, manufactures wood screws for commercial and residential wood applications.

The GRABBER LOX bit and recess feature eight contact points—twice as many as the Phillips and square designs. The eight points of contact provide more than six times the torque of a typical square or Phillips recess, according to company information.

The type-17 thread reduces driving torque, and the QuikGrab point speeds up the time required to drive screws. In addition, the driver bits last longer, with superior stick fit, eliminating the need to use a magnetic bit holder.

Safely Walk the Plank
Troy, Ala.-based Tendura manufactures TenduraPlank, which is available in both a Classic and Natural Woods Collection.

The product is made of 40-percent plastic and 60-percent wood fiber and is impervious to moisture. TenduraPlank Classic comes factory-primed and ready to be top coated with any quality exterior latex or oil-base porch paint.

TenduraTread is a square-edge plank, designed to be used in stair applications to compliment the porch floor.

Strengthen Your Deck
Screw Products Inc. of Gig Harbor, Wash., manufactures DeckLok, a patented bracket system which the company says significantly strengthens the critical connections between deck components to greatly reduce the risk of collapse.

DeckLok was engineered to address the three most critical connections on a deck: ledger boards, stair stringers and railing systems.

DeckLok’s 16-gauge, ACQ-compatible steel brackets are available in a post-manufactured HDG, and 304 & 316 stainless steel.
