This Year’s AMD has A Lot to Offer 

Last year’s hurricanes kept the association and its members from getting together to network and see the latest in the millwork industry. Make sure to mark your calendar to visit the Lone Star State and attend the 42nd Annual AMD Convention October 14-19, 2006, at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

Registration
Registration is open on Saturday, October 14-Tuesday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Convention badges must be worn at all times for admittance to AMD functions, and the badge replacement fee is $25. Spouses and guests who plan to attend any AMD function are required to register and wear a badge.

Resort Room Accommodations
Guests are responsible for making their own reservations directly with the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center. Call the resort toll-free at 866/782-7897 and mention the AMD Annual Convention to receive the special group rates. A standard room is $201, and there is a $20 fee for each additional person. You can also visit the hotel’s website at www.gaylordtexan.com to make reservations. The code when asked is AMD. Guest room reservations must be made prior to Friday, September 8, 2006.

Meeting Space
Limited meeting space is available at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center for member companies exhibiting and supporting the headquarter hotel. If interested in holding an event before or after exhibit hall hours, contact AMD directly. Meeting space is based on availability and is first come, first serve. Please note: members are not permitted to hold meetings during exhibit hall hours.

Transportation
The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is located less than 15 minutes from the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center. The SuperShuttle offers direct van shuttle service between the DFW International Airport and the Gaylord Texan Resort. The fare is $12 per person each way. To arrange transportation to the Gaylord Texan Resort, pick up the SuperShuttle courtesy phone in the baggage claim area. Shuttles return from the resort back to the airport every 20 minutes between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. Reservations are strongly recommended for transportation back to the airport to ensure a timely departure and for all departures later than 7 p.m. For more information, call SuperShuttle at 800/258-3826 or 817/329-2000.

Taxicabs are located outside the baggage claim level of the airport. The one-way fare between DFW International Airport and the Gaylord Texan Resort is approximately $25. Charges for additional passengers may vary; ask the driver before entering the taxi. Fare estimates do not include gratuities.

AMD has negotiated special rates with Hertz for the October 14-19, 2006, annual convention. Contact Hertz at 800/654-2240 or visit the company’s website at www.hertz.com to secure reservations. Please reference the AMD exclusive identification number CV #02XS0005. 

Park it Here
Covered parking is available at the resort. Overnight guests receive privileges with the charges posted to your room. Daily Valet and Self Park will be charged per visit. (Rates are subject to change and applicable tax.) 

Overnight Valet parking is $18; Daily valet parking is $12.

Overnight self parking is $9; Daily self parking is $8.

Convention Attire and Climate
Attire for AMD-related events is business casual. It is recommended that you bring a jacket or sweater for individual comfort as meeting room temperatures may vary. October’s average daytime high is in the mid 70s with evening temperatures in the low 50s.
