Promotions

Negwer Promotes Lohman
Negwer Materials Inc., a building materials provider headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., promoted Greg Lohman to shipping and receiving coordinator for its St. Louis office. 

Lohman previously served as a driver/yardman for 26 years at Negwer’s St. Louis location, where he will now expedite all shipping, receiving and customer orders, while overseeing material transfers for all of the company’s yard locations. Negwer operates ten locations throughout Missouri and central Illinois.

84 Lumber Makes Several Appointments
84 Lumber Co. made several appointments recently. The company named Ed McKenzie Northeast division vice president of store operations. The Eighty Four, Pa.-based company says McKenzie will oversee its Northeast, Pittsburgh, Mid-Atlantic and Central regions.

“I believe the executive structure we now have in place provides a wonderful mix of experience and knowledge of our regions, markets and customers, both locally and nationally, and I am fully confident of their ability to get us to our $10 billion sales goal,” says president and owner Maggie Hardy Magerko. 

McKenzie has been with the company 17 years and started as a manager trainee in White Plains, Md. He also served as a co-manager in Ft. Washington, Md., before returning to the White Plains store as manager. He was promoted to area manager in 1996, covering the Washington, D.C., market where 84 says he developed one of its top-performing outside sales programs.

He was promoted to regional vice president of the Mid-Atlantic in 1998, a region 84 says has consistently been one of the most profitable. A native of Southern Maryland, McKenzie and his family reside in Huntingtown, Md. 

The company also appointed Mark Garboski as executive vice president overseeing corporate functions; Brian Sento as senior vice president of national sales; and Mike McCrobie as vice president of installed sales.

Sento is returning to 84 Lumber after a two-year stint with Wassau Homes and Builders FirstSource. He started with 84 Lumber as a manager trainee in March of 1989, then became a co-manager in 1990, a store manager in 1992, an area manager in 1995 and Northeast regional vice president in 1997.

McCrobie started with the company in March of 1998 as a part-time yard associate in Star City, W.Va. He became a manager trainee in 1999 and a co-manager in 2000. He was later appointed manager of the Star City store and became an area manager in 2002.

NEW APPOINTMENTS

Timbron Selects New Director
Timbron International recently appointed Tim Groom as its director of new business development. In this newly-created position, Groom will be responsible for promoting and managing growth of Timbron products throughout North America.

Groom earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and has 15 years of senior management experience within the industry.

Pro-Build Regroups
Pro-Build Holdings Inc. recently adopted a regional management structure that it says will facilitate efficient operations nationwide. Ten current divisions will become part of four regions: Pro-Build North, Pro-Build East, Pro-Build South and Pro-Build West. 

Pro-Build says administrative and back office functions for each region will be consolidated in four newly-established regional offices, with Pro-Build East in Charlotte, N.C., Pro-Build South in Tulsa, Okla., Pro-Build North in Winona, Minn., and Pro-Build West in Olympia, Wash. As part of these changes, the company also announced its corporate headquarters will now be in Denver, Colo.

Pro-Build also announced four promotions to the role of regional president, each reporting to Ben Phillips, its chief operating officer. Buddy Ables was named regional president for Pro-Build East with responsibility for The Contractor Yard, Strober Building Supply and U.S. Components; Dave Dittmer was named regional president for Pro-Build West with responsibility for Spenard, Lumbermens and Dixieline; Dale Kukowski was named regional president of Pro-Build North with responsibility for F.E. Wheaton and United Building Centers; and Jim Cavanaugh was named regional president for Pro-Build South with responsibility for Hope Lumber and Home Lumber.

Rich Young was also named president of its newly-created Pro-Build Gypsum group.  Ed Waite will continue serving as president of Spenard Builders Supply in Alaska; Joe Lawrence will remain president of Dixieline, but will also take on added responsibilities for growth in large metro markets in the West, reporting to Dave Dittmer; Jeff Brown will continue serving as president of F.E. Wheaton and take on additional responsibility for growth in the metro markets of the North reporting to Dale Kukowski; and Dave Walstad will continue serving as president of U.S. Components reporting to Buddy Ables with responsibility for all the component plants in Pro-Build East.

Weather Shield® Appoints New Sales Manager
Alec Schumacher has been named East-Central regional sales manager for Weather Shield® Windows and Doors in Medford, Wis. Schumacher joined the company in 1992 as a territory manager for Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.  He has earned numerous sales awards, including multiple salesperson of the year awards for the Mid-Atlantic region, the president’s club award and the national salesperson of the year award on two occasions.

In his new role, Schumacher will lead the sales team covering Central and Eastern Pennsylvania, Western New York, Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana. He resides in Myersville, Md., with his wife and their three children. 

New Additions

Leys and Wendland Join Empire
The Empire Company Inc. announced that Dave Wendland has joined the company as a product manager in purchasing. Wendland has 31 years of experience in purchasing and operations with Stock Building Supply. 

Jeff Leys has also joined the Zeeland, Mich-based company as its strategic marketing manager. He has more than ten years of experience with Zeeland Lumber & Supply Co. where he managed marketing, interior products and information technology.

Empire is a distribution and supply chain management company supporting retail home centers and residential home construction wholesalers located throughout the Eastern half of the United States.
