TimberTech® in Wilmington, Ohio, has introduced XLM, a low-maintenance alternative decking solution to wood. TimberTech says it developed XLM because of consumers’ demands for low-maintenance decking and easy-to-install decking materials.

The GreenSpec® Directory compiled by BuildingGreen Inc., in Atlanta, has added three new brands of treated wood. These brands include: SillBor® borate-treated wood for interior uses; Wolmanized® L3 Outdoor® wood for exposed, out-of-ground applications; and FrameGuard® mold-resistant wood coated for resistance to mold and wood-destroying organisms. www.GreenSpec.com
A Guide to the New
Southern Pine Council in Kenner, La., has just released an updated version of its specification guide, “Pressure-Treated Southern Pine.” The guide includes a current digest of preservative and treatment standards for all Southern Pine commodities.
Four new preservatives include the carbon-based Wolmanized® L3 Outdoor® from Arch Wood Protection Inc. and the new copper-bases are Smart Sense™ Micropro™ from Osmose Inc. Protectol CX™ from BASF Corp. and CuNap 5-W from Merichem. Glulam timbers have also been added to the list of marine end-use products. “Pressure-Treated Southern Pine” also helps your customers understand the appropriate uses of surface barrier treatments. www.SouthernPine.com
A Life Saver
Help extend the life of your customers’ decking products. Offer them DeckWrap™, a self-adhering waterproof wrap available from MFM Building Products. The product’s tough membrane features a layer of specialized asphalt bonded to a durable film preventing moisture, damp soil, concrete or metal from coming into direct contact with wood surfaces that can lead to premature rot and degradation. www.deckwrap.com
