AMD Gathers the Industry’s Best
The Association of Millwork Distributors (AMD) will gather senior-level executives and owners of millwork-related companies from all over the country in Savannah, Ga., May 1-4, for its annual Top Management Leadership Conference. Held at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa, the event will mix top-notch relaxation with industry-specific education tailored for upper management.

Event officials say the annual conference is designed to broaden senior management’s thinking and stimulate healthy debate on critical issues facing the millwork industry. But before AMD gets down to business, it’s time for a little fun and networking at The Club at Savannah Harbor. On Thursday, May 1, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., attendees will enjoy golfing on the same course used for The PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour, Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf Tournament. This 18-hole championship course was designed by renowned architect Robert Cupp, in conjunction with the legendary “Slammin’ Sam” Snead.

Down to Business
This year’s event not only provides an opportunity to network with industry peers, it boasts two well-respected industry expert speakers. Kathy Newton, Ph.D., professor of Industrial Distribution and head of the Industrial Technology Department at Purdue University, will present Friday’s education session: “The Productivity Challenge: How to Get the Most Out of Your Employees.” This session will focus on all the activities that have an impact on productivity.

Saturday will feature Adam J. Fein, Ph.D., founder and president of Pembroke Consulting, who will focus an interactive session on: “Facing the Forces of Change: Lead the Way in the Supply Chain.” Fein will discuss future technology for wholesale distributors and the latest economic trends affecting the millwork distributor and manufacturer.

A roundtable discussion, where attendees can meet and learn from industry peers, also is scheduled for Friday. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the challenges they face and how they are handling situations that may be similar from one company to another. Other event topics will include: Current Trends in Distribution Employment Training: The Premier Strategy for High Productivity; Making Tough Decisions in a Tough Economy; The Future of Technology for Wholesale Distributors; The Latest Economic Trends Affecting the Millwork Industry; and Benchmarking Your Sales/Marketing Plan with the Latest Economic Data.

AMD urges industry members to secure a spot and join in for an exciting and rewarding event where they can enjoy views of historic Savannah and the picturesque Low Country surrounding the resort during this year’s Top Management Leadership Conference.
