Door and window companies are trying to stay ahead of their competition by introducing products that offer unique advantages while meeting the latest trends, such as green building. If your company is looking to distribute something new and different, read on to see what these door and window suppliers are offering.

Add a Nickel Finish
Young Manufacturing Co., a Beaver Dam, Ky.-based manufacturer, introduces nickel finish to its collection of exterior door sills.

The new nickel finish is available on the HP Clad® Sill (US Patent #6,484,446), which features a high-performance design, exclusive flashing weatherstrip, furniture-grade oak interior and all-clad exterior.

The AA Top Drain® Sill (US Patent #5,179,804) is also available in the new nickel finish. Company officials say the AA Top Drain sill features a unique storm drain that should be your customers’ second line of defense against all door leaks.4 www.youngmanufacturing.com

Improved Ventilation
Are your customers asking for a less visible screen than standard models? Gorell Windows & Doors of Indiana, Pa., has introduced BetterVue™ Screens as a new option for its complete line of door and window products. BetterVue screens have an open appearance because they’re made of durable fiberglass yarns that are smaller in diameter than standard screen yarns.

Company literature states that BetterVue screens provide improved airflow and better ventilation and also are highly effective at deterring insects from getting into homes. They even help keep homes clean by blocking dust and dirt from entering windows and doors. 4 www.gorell.com

Complete Weatherization
Dow Building Solutions offers a full line of weather barrier solutions, including its Window and Door Insulating Foam sealant. This product is a one-component, minimal-expanding, low pressure-build polyurethane foam exclusively formulated to air seal the gap around a door or window frame and the rough opening.

The company’s WEATHERMATE™ line includes: house wraps, construction tape, flexible flashing, straight flashing, sill pans and gaskets and much more. Each product is designed to be an integral part of a complete home weatherization system that can also include rigid foam like the company’s STYROFOAM™ Brand Extruded Polystyrene Insulation and THERMAX™ Sheathing. www.dowbuildingsolutions.com

An Exact Match
If your customers have been requesting a doorframe that can be stained to perfectly match a door, JELD-WEN of Klamath Falls, Ore., might have the answer. Unlike composite doorframes that will weather differently and can’t be stained to match a wood door perfectly, AuraLast wood frames can be finished to coordinate exactly with the desired look for the entry system. For installations, most frames need to be cut, trimmed and sanded multiple times in order to fit entries that aren’t perfectly plumb and square, according to company literature.

AuraLast wood also is environmentally friendly. It uses a closed-loop, water-based process that reduces harmful volatile organic chemicals by 96 percent compared to the industry standard method of dip-treating wood using petroleum-based solutions. www.jeld-wen.com

A New Molded Door
The CraftMaster Crossmore three-panel interior door blends the Mission-style of furniture with the influences of Craftsman-style architecture. Company officials at the Chicago-based company boast that the stark, linear design transcends decorating styles and fits just as well in contemporary homes as it does in traditional ones.

Crossmore is created with advanced molded door technology that provides the look of an authentic stile and rail door with flat panel construction in a molded interior door, according to a company release. Unlike wood doors that are assembled with multiple pieces to create a door of similar style, Crossmore is made as one solid piece from molded, high-density fiberboard.  www.craftmasterdoors.com.

New Options in Knotty Alder
Bevel King has introduced a complete line-up of knotty alder interior 1 3/8-inch doors. The selection includes standard interior widths in 6-8 and 8-0 heights to accommodate most any specification.

This new line isn't short on options either, as it features two-panel, two-panel v-groove, two-panel with arched top panel, and two-panel v-groove with arched top panel. Units are available as slabs or pre-hung in knotty alder or paint grade jambs.

Bevel King is wholesale only and ships from five regional locations. www.bevelkingdoors.com

Wash It Away
Marvin Windows and Doors’ latest product, the Ultimate Replacement Casement, features a number of innovative components, including a wash mode, a commercial-grade hardware system, large sizing capability, easy installation and design flexibility.

The Ultimate Replacement Casement’s wash mode allows the exterior of the window to be washed from the interior. In three easy steps, homeowners can rotate the window to access interior glass: crank handle twice; push down on the hardware arm and push the window away, and then crank the handle back; and swing window all the way open, pulling it across towards the lock for accessibility to exterior glass. www.MarvinCasement.com

Barn Door Spin-Off
Johnson Hardware’s 200WM wall mount is a modern spin on barn door hardware that serves as a space-saving alternative for small spaces.

The 200WM can hold up to a 300-pound door and can be used with or without a decorative valance to cover the track. Not to be confused with pocket doors, which slide into a wall, Johnson’s 200WM has a track-and-roller system that attaches directly to the wall, resulting in quick installation and easy operation. This is an ideal solution for walls constructed of brick or concrete block or for wood-framed walls that contain pipes or wiring that would make it difficult and costly to install traditional pocket doors. Unlike a standard hinged door that requires 8 to 10 square feet of floor space to swing open, a door mounted with the Series 200WM hardware takes up little more space than the thickness of the door, according to company literature. www.johnsonhardware.com

Customize It
Hayfield Window & Door in Hayfield, Minn., offers patio doors and windows in white and beige and the 701 and 201 series in clay. Company officials say its seven painted exteriors are covered by a ten-year warranty.

Three interior choices in solid vinyl, two woodgrain options, and three natural wood interiors, as well as twelve internal grid choices and SDL lites are a great way to customize any window. Geometric shapes also are available. www.hayfieldwindows.com

Want a Combination?
Fond du Lac, Wis.-based Combination Door Co. is offering Easy-Change wood combination doors, which company officials say provide the flexibility of quick-changing storm and screen door inserts.

Unlike metal doors, the wood construction provides the freedom to finish your three-season room in any range of colors to fit your décor, according to company information. In addition, customers can choose from a wide range of door and grille designs. www.combinationdoor.com

Old World Style
Attention to detail can create a grand entrance and curb appeal. Recognizing the importance of style and authentic details, Therma-Tru of Maumee, Ohio, has introduced decorative accent hardware for its Classic-Craft® Rustic Collection™ including round and pyramid clavos and strap hinges. Designed for homes that reflect Southwestern- or Mediterranean-inspired architecture, company officials say the hardware accents bring an authentic hand-hewn look to the Rustic Collection door styles.

The Rustic Collection is crafted of fiberglass with Therma-Tru’s AccuGrain™ Technology and will not rot, warp or split like a traditional wood door, according to company literature. It is Energy Star® qualified, offering five times the insulation of a wood door. www.thermatru.com
