Molding and Millwork
Miterless Crown Fit for a King?
Offer your customers the ability to run crown moulding without compound mitering.
Architectural Ornament Inc. in Concord, Ontario, announced it is the first moulding
manufacturer to provide matching corner blocks for polyurethane architectural
mouldings. The blocks are short pieces of moulding created for laying in and around
corners. A 90-degree angle is built into the piece eliminating the need for compound
mitering.
Unlike wood or medium-density fiberboard, polyurethane products come in finished
sections eliminating time-consuming layering and joining of multiple pieces by
hand. The company says this streamlines installation and lowers total cost.

A New Thinner Coating
Established
in 1999 in Indiana, A.H. Furnico offers its customers an array of moulding and
millwork.
Most of the company's products are coated with a calcium carbonate and adhesive
mixture (Jesso), which it says offers a much smoother primed surface than other
priming methods. In fact, the company now offers a thinner Jesso coating of less
than 1/16 inch.
