Cadillac Plastic of Troy, MI, has promoted John Lutzke to the position of national sheet products manager. Lutzke, who will direct the marketing and sales programs for all of Cadillacs sheet product line, joined the company in 1995.
The company has also named Tim Wilson area distribution manager for Chicago, IL. Wilson, who began his career with Cadillac Plastic in 1979, will manage the 90,000-square-foot distribution center in Chicago.
PPG Industries of Pittsburgh, PA, has announced appointments in its auto parts and aircraft departments. In the auto glass original equipment products business, the company named Thomas P. Kerr general manager in Troy, MI, and Joseph D. Stas was appointed director of production in Pittsburgh. In addition to these moves, PPG named Gerald L. Marino manager of satellite operations for automotive glass original equipment products, while Glenn T. Miner moves into Marinos previous position as marketing manager for auto glass replacement products. In the aircrafts products business, based in Huntsville, AL, the company appointed Robert K. Moore general manager and George W. Ellis plant manager.
Viracon of Owatonna, MN, has announced several promotions in conjunction with its plan to construct a product facility in Statesboro, GA. Bill Highfield will be the facilities manager in Statesboro, while Steve Rodenbeck will be operations leader for the coating and insulating glass departments and Doug Zirngible will serve as operations leader for the laminated and security glass departments.
In addition to these promotions, Viracon has also appointed Julie Bain to the position of chief information officer. Bain has more than 15 years experience in information services and will be responsible for managing the information services of Viracon.
The Vistawall Group of Terrell, TX, has announced several personnel changes. Michael Karman and Rich Riddle have been added to the sales department. Mark Fastenau was promoted to lineal projects service manager, while Terry Edwards has been named project coordinator and Brendan Leroux was named project manager in Modesto. The estimating supervisor is now Mike Phares, and Scott Avondet will serve as estimator. Norman Simpson will move into the door specialist position and Jimmy Kelley will serve as a service center manager in Seattle.
Essex ARG of Dayton, OH, recently hired Dale Malcolm as technical services manager. Malcolm, who was previously with Portland Glass, will be responsible for overseeing every aspect of the technical information that is disseminated from the aftermarket auto glass replacement division.
Perilstein Distributing Corp. of Cheswick, PA, has announced that Robert T. Cummings has joined the company as corporate director of sales. Cummings, who has more than 15 years of experience in the glass industry, will be responsible for directing the sales and marketing opportunities for the companys three operations.
Vivek Vasuveda has joined National Auto Glass Specifications in San Diego, CA, as the director of strategic market services. Vasuveda, who spent 13 years with Pilkington LOF, will be responsible for developing new markets, introducing additional products to existing markets and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Harmon Ltd. of Minneapolis, MN, has confirmed that its executive vice-president, Tom Koehler, has resigned.
Pilkington plc of St. Helens, England, has appointed Warren Knowlton, a main board director of Pilkington plc, to the position of president of Automotive Products Worldwide. Knowlton, who will be based in Toledo, OH, will also be president of Pilkingtons North American Automotive Operations, regional president of NAFTA, and chairman of Libbey-Owens-Ford. After a 20-year career with Owens Corning, Knowlton joined Pilkington in 1997 and has been primarily responsible for restructuring the companys building products business.
Safelite® Glass Corporation of Columbus, OH, has added Douglas A. Herron, who serves as senior vice president and chief financial officer of the company, to its board of directors. Herron, who was previously with General Electric Company, has successfully guided Safelite through a number of changes since joining the company in 1992.
