Jan and Jim Bess Receive Glasscraft Award

Memphis, TN-based Glasscraft has awarded the Salesperson of the Year award to Jan and Jim Bess. This is the second year in a row that the husband and wife team has been honored. "[They] are the quintessential sales team, consistently exceeding demanding sales and performance goals," said Harry Draper, managing director.

Jan has more than 27 years experience in the glass and mirror industry. She has been a sales representative for Glasscraft since 1982. Jim has been a part of the glass industry for 30 years. In 1981 he formed Jim Bess and Associates Inc. and has worked with Glasscraft since that time.


ASSOCIATIONS

Taylor Receives Award

Annette Taylor, secretary for the Detroit Glass Dealers Association, has been honored with that association’s President Award. Al Stepaniak, president of the DGDA said Taylor was chosen because "she is an undying asset to the organization. She always does everything that is asked of her and goes the extra mile." This is the first time a non-member has been chosen for the award.

CIECA Appoints New Subcommittee Members

The Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Assoc-iation (CIECA) of Romulus, MI, has appointed new leaders for its glass subcommittee. Bill Gobtop of State Farm has been elected chairman to replace Sylvia Schoch of USAA who resigned due to work demands, and previous co-chair Dale Williams now serves as vice chair. In addition, Sheri Beaver of State Farm has replaced Sally Custer of the Independent Glass Association as secretary.

Hafele America Appoints New President

Hafele America Co. has appointed John Hossli as president following the recent death of Wolfgang Hafele (see USGlass, April 1999 pg. 70). Hossli has been with the company since 1984.


CORPORATE

Christensen Added to Board of Butler

Gary M. Christensen, president and chief executive officer of Pella Corporation, Pella, IA, has been elected to the board of directors of Butler Manufacturing Company of Kansas City, MO. Christensen also serves on the board of directors of Brenton Banks Inc., and is a member of the policy advisory board of the Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies.

Wenegar, Minnon and Dabbagh Join United States Aluminum

United States Aluminum Commercial Products Group of Waxahachie, TX, has appointed new members to its sales organization. Ben Wenegar is the new vice president of sales, and is a 30-year veteran of the architectural aluminum industry.

Tom Minnon was appointed regional sales manager of the company’s Illinois facility. He got his start as a solar energy engineer at Kalwall Corporation.

Kiomars Dabbagh is now the regional sales manager for the United States Aluminum of Canada Ltd. facility in British Columbia. He holds a bachelor of science in economics and in international business administration and a master’s degree in business and finance.

International Window Appoints Adams and Shadoan

International Window Corporation of South Gate, CA, has appointed Fred Adams as vice president of sales and marketing and Mike Shadoan as vice president of operations. Adams was previously director of marketing at International Aluminum Corporation, the parent company of International Window Corporation, and has over 12 years of experience in the residential building material industry. Shadoan previously held the manager of process engineering position at Republic Windows & Doors, and in his new position, plans to develop an innovative technical services department.


PROMOTIONS

New Appointments for Intertek Testing

Intertek Testing Services (ITS) of Boxborough, MA, promoted Gregg Tiemann to vice president of the company’s Central Region. Tiemann will help drive the company’s new customer-intimate business initiative. He joined the company in 1993 as the sales manager for its Los Angeles office.

Ken Ash, William E. Holz and Dennis Warren were appointed to positions that will help drive the company’s new customer-intimate business initiative. Ash, vice president of the Southern Region, began working for ITS 11 years ago. Holz, national sales manager based out of Dallas, is known for his work in bringing the European Telecom Testing to the United States. Warren, segment manager, previously worked for Scitex Corporation and Waters/ Millipore.

Fredericks Promoted to National Sales Manager

John Fredericks has been promoted by Frank Lowe Rubber & Gasket Co. Inc. of Famingdale, NY, to the position of national sales manager. Fredericks has been with the company for six years and most recently was the director of sales for the Eastern region.
