Ettore Products Co. of Oakland, CA, has made its Golden Glove Window Scrubbers available. The scrubbers are offered in 10-, 14- and 18-inch widths and feature a high capacity, drip-free design and removable, machine-washable covers, according to the company. They are ideal for cleaning window screens and screen doors. The product is made from extra heavy synthetic pile, double-twist fabric with double seams at the sewn ends.
FireLite Plus, an impact safety-rated glass ceramic from Technical Glass Products of Kirkland, WA, is now available. It can be sandblasted, etched or beveled on one side without changing the fire rating. The product has fire ratings of up to three hours for doors and from 20 to 60 minutes for other applications.
Ilco Unican of Landing, NJ, offers the System 800 electronic commercial lock system. According to the company, the system is battery-powered, requires no hardwiring, features an expandable 10,000-user, 6,000-lock capacity and requires a three-level password protection before system access. The company says the locks grant access to authorized users only, and further restricts access to certain times of the day or days of the week. In addition, as soon as new keycards are used in the locks, they automatically replace lost or stolen keycards. The company says System 800 can be combined with its hardwired Millennium system to control all perimeter access points.
Lee En-gineering of Paw-tucket, RI, has introduced a new pallet loader/ unloader that can be adjusted to quickly and accurately position workloads up to 3,000 pounds. The Presto AccuLoad comes standard with an 80-psi pneumatic foot control and its lift height can be adjusted to compensate for variable load weights and operator heights, according to the company. The unit is built with heavy duty structural steel and has a 43-inch diameter turntable. A pneumatically controlled air bellow can raise the tables height to 30½ inch, or lower it down to 9½ inch. It comes with a five-year warranty on its structure and one-year on all other elements.
F. Barkow Inc. of Milwaukee has introduced the Work-horse, an enclosed workshop glass carrier/truck package. It features a 6-foot self storing work table, storage bins with a 51-inch shelving unit for storing glazing supplies and a translucent roof to let light in while working. The exterior is equipped with the companys aluminum glass carriers and STAKE-LOC self-locking stakes and Barkleats® for added security during glass transportation. Additional features include 7-inch ledge boards, a ladder for roof access and a full-height walk-in door that locks.
The Shop Cart, designed for transporting fabricated glass and mirrors, has been introduced by Groves Inc. of McHenry, IL. The 30-inch cart width includes 6-inch ledge boards and, according to the company, fits through door openings and narrow isles. The 48-inch cart is available in heights of 36 or 48 inches. This 1,000-pound capacity cart is a do-it-yourself assembly. The cart utilizes 5-inch roller bearing casters.
The company has also introduced the 3648 LWC A-frame cart for the transportation of glass. According to the company, the cart can hold 2,000 pounds of glass with maximum dimensions of 48-by-36 inches. The cart also features handles on both sides and roller-bearing wheels.
The Burco V-Rack carriers are the only racks available that enable the transportation of a DW 1061 upright in a full-size van or an enclosed pickup truck, according to the company. The rack is designed with a step down base and is constructed of heavy gauge steel with a black powder coat finish. A Burco Slick Eddy glass slide comes with each rack to assist in loading and unloading.
Brighton Glass Co. of New Brighton, PA, says customers will save valuable time by purchasing its new Slic-Rak rack expanding system. Customers will no longer have to make extra trips back to the shop due to lack of storage space on the truck. The company says the product is compact, versatile, easy-to-use and requires no tools.
Other features of the Slic-Rak include: adjustability to accept a rack from 1/8- to 2/14-inches thick; constructed of 1/4-inch thick aluminum for strength; neoprene blocks on the bases for cushion; and are sold in pairs.
Proprietary software that acts as an electronic price book for ordering products over the Internet is available from C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. of Los Angeles. The companys customers can download the CRL Online Price Book software from www.crlaurence.com to access up-to-the-minute pricing on all 20,000 catalog items, according to the company. The Online Price Book also helps customers put together orders and combine products for quantity pricing. Orders can be placed via hard copy, fax or on-line.
IBS Software Inc., based in Kansas City, recently introduced two new products specifically developed for flat glass fabricators and storefront estimating.
The first product, Clear Cut, allows flat glass fabricators to automate their entire production process. According to the company, from order entry, optimization, cutting (manual or automatic cutting table), labeling, fabrication, inventory control, to delivery, Clear Cut increases the efficiencies of any flat glass operation. "Clear Cut has been the standard for flat glass operations in New Zealand over the past ten years with a proven return on investment of 3 to 6 months depending on the operation," said Brad T. Kryger, vice president of IBS Software.
The second product, Quote 2000, available July 1, 1999, is owned by Chelsea Technologies Ltd., of New Zealand and distributed and supported by IBS Software Inc. According to IBS, Quote 2000 will allow glass shops, as well as manufacturers, the ability to obtain a storefront quote quickly and easily. Whether a glass shop is quoting a storefront project or a manufacturer is building a storefront system for a shop, Quote 2000 will cost-out all materials, including all fabrication and powder coating, as well as provide all cutting lists and materials, according to Kryger.
Cystal Clear VHB Tapes are now available from U.S. Horizon Manufacturing Inc. of Valencia, CA. The tapes are available in ¼- and ½-inch widths and .020 and .040 thicknesses, according to the company. Seals and wipes can be attached permanently to a wide variety of materials with the product. In addition to the industry standard of 216-foot rolls, the Crystal Clear is available in 20-foot rolls, according to the company.
The Jamb Spreader was invented by Chester Horst to make cleaning double-hung windows easier. "I devised the tool to remove the usual strain and struggle," said Horst.
The tool is available at specialty window stores nationally.
Alumitech Windows and Curtainwall Systems Inc. of Merrill, WI, has introduced the Series 2750 heavy commercial projected window line. According to the company, the windows, when tested in accordance with AAMA specifications, exceed all performance requirements of the class F-AW100, F-HC100, C-AW70, C-HC70, AP-AW70, and AP-HC70. The windows are available in a 2¾-, 3½- and 4½-inch thermal frame depth with optional Venetian blinds and hinged access panels.
