Tangent Industries Inc. has developed a line of adhesives, which it says are free of
solvents and cure when exposed to UV light. According to the company, its products cure
quickly, have strong bond strength and are available in a variety of viscosities. The
company offers adhesives suitable for windshield repair, structural bonding and glass
furniture. Its adhesives are also used for bevel-bonding (photo at right shows bevels
bonded with a Tangent UV-curable adhesive to plate glass used to construct the double
doors, side lights and transom. The complete assembly was designed and manufactured by
Custom Glass and Door of Raleigh-Durham, NC). Tangent is also testing its products for
edge bonding, stained glass lampshades, laminating, safety glass, decorative coloring and
UV solder.
Delchem of Wilmington, DE, presents the D-2000 reactive hot-melt butyl IG sealant.
According to the company, it lengthens the life and durability of IG units and has the
lowest MVTR and gas permeance rate of any other IG sealant. It has no urethane or silicone
so it reacts instantaneously with atmospheric moisture upon extrusion into the spacer.
This spacer and glass crosslink to form covalent chemical bonds with the substrate.
Delchem also says its D-2000 boasts outstanding adhesive, cohesive and shear strengths
with the ability to withstand extreme temperatures and environmental stresses.
In addition, D-2000 has been approved for use on PPG Industries Intercept® DSE IG
technology
system.
Pecora Corporation of Harleysville, PA, has added the Arocep mirror mastic to its product line. It was developed to permanently bond electro-copper plated glass mirrors to substrates. According to the company, the adhesion is strong, flexible over time and able to withstand a wide temperature range. It also reaches 30 percent of its full strength within 24 hours and cures in 28 days.
Utica, NY-based Indium
Corporation of America (ICA) is offering its line of Indium Oxide and Indium Tin-Oxide
coating materials for use on low-E windows, solar collector panels, photovoltaic cells,
liquid crystal display glass and transparent antistatic panels. According to the company,
the unique quality of ICA coating powders and sub-micron particle size gives them a higher
surface area per given volume for optimum results and higher product performance.
Carolina Mirror of North Wilkesboro, NC, has introduced two distinct mirror lines,
Casual Traditions and Formal Traditions. The Casual Traditions collection is designed to
complement more informal living styles. Designs include country french, European coastal,
Mediterranean and arts and crafts.
Carolinas Formal Traditions is for more traditional decorating. It includes the
Court of Versailles 12-piece collection of mirrors reproduced from the 17th century French
palace. The company also features its 20th Century Classics line of contemporary mirrors,
which are made from maple, black ash, walnut or transparent white with steel accents.
ODL Inc. of Zeeland, MI, offers the Solar Flair Designer Diffuser for its
14-inch tubular skylights and EntryPoint Window Treatments. The 22-inch diameter diffuser
is available in four designs. Sunlight is dispersed through it to radiate a glow on the
ceiling.
For privacy on existing steel and fiberglass entry door windows and skylights, ODL
produces Entry Point Window Treatments. Aluminum mini-blinds or pleated shades are encased
in tempered safety glass. A 22- by 36-inch designer glass option is available.
Jacksonville, FL-based Coastal Industries Inc. features its affordable Paragon Series
bath enclosure system. It was designed in a European look that emphasizes glass exposure
while minimizing the frame width. The series is available in both bypass and hinged-door
models and in silver and gold finishes.
C.R. Laurence Co. of
Los Angeles, offers more than 20 different styles of solid brass or stainless steel
hinges. The hinges are available in standard or custom finishes and can mount glass ¼- to
½-inch thick. Standard finishes include polished chrome, brass, nickel, satin brass,
brushed nickel, pewter, satin chrome, white and black powdered coat and gold plating.
Custom finishes include antique brass, bronze, pewter, oil rubber bronze, polished and
brushed copper and more than 100 R.A.L. powder coat finish colors, according to the
company.
The hinge hardware includes wall mount and glass-to-glass hinges, top and bottom pivot
hinges, inline panel mounts, top or bottom mounts, self-centering wall mounts, as well as
pull handles, towel bars and glass-to-glass in-swing and out-swing hinges.
Vesuvius McDanel Co. of
Beaver Falls, PA, produces Zyalite roll covers made from compressed ceramic fibers
impregnated with a colloidal. According to the company, the roll covers resist the build
up of foreign materials, eliminate lehr-created optical distortions, and can move glass as
thick as 19 millimeters. Other features include low thermal conductivity, dimensional
stability and stable T.I.R. The products can be used in float glass and rolled glass
annealing lehrs, and for the vertical draw process and the active matrix glass for LCD
applications.
G.F. Technologies of
Cuyahoga Heights, OH, is distributing the Scratch A Way system for removing scratches from
flat, concave and convex glass surfaces. According to the company, the system saves money,
is easy and fast to use, does not use dangerous chemicals and is a clean process. The
company also says it can be used on installed glass.
Howell, MI-based C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. (CRL) is offering the Slic-Rak glass rack
expands for use on glass trucks and in the shop. The racks are constructed from ¼- inch
thick aluminum and neoprene rubber padding. According to the company, they will fit on
slats up to 2 ¼-inch thick and adjusts to fit all rack configurations. They also install
quickly without the use of tools and takes up little storage space when not in use.
