Fire Destroys AAPC Plant; Arson Suspected as Probable Cause
Boardman, OH-based American Architectural Products Corporation (AAPC) has announced the closure of the Kreidel Plastics extrusion plant in Barberton, OH. The plant, operated by its subsidiary American Weather-Seal Company, was destroyed in a fire on October 1, 1999. A former employee has been charged with setting the blaze intentionally.
It is unfortunate that one individual can create such hardship for so many
others, however, the costs and difficulty in rebuilding the operations exceeds any
anticipated benefit and therefore we are left with no other reasonable alternative but to
discontinue the operation, said Frank Amedia, president and chief
executive officer.
