Hoffer’s Inc. Named New
Distributor for Tubelite Inc.

Curtainwall and storefront supplier, Tubelite Inc. of Reed City, Mich., has designated Hoffer’s as an authorized distributor of its architectural aluminum products as of February 1, 2000. Hoffer’s primary geographic coverage area includes Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, northern Illinois and northern Indiana.

“Both Tubelite and Hoffer’s are well-reputed, long-standing companies in the architectural glass and metal industry,” said Steve Green, vice president of client relations at Tubelite. “Like Tubelite, Hoffer’s is a company that is extremely committed to providing leading edge customer service and the best products available. We complement each other very well.”

Tubelite, who previously used Coolidge Glass as its distributor in the above-mentioned geographic area, reportedly moved its business to Hoffer’s after Arch Aluminum leased the main manufacturing facility of Coolidge Glass. Coolidge Glass went into receivership in December 1999.

Selas Secures Orders Worth More
Than $6 Million

Selas Corporation of America has received a $5 million order from Norsk Hydro Americas Inc. for a set of aluminum billet homogenizing furnaces, coolers and a materials handling system.

According to Stephen F. Ryan, Selas chairman and chief executive officer, the equipment will be supplied as part of a $33 million aluminum remelt plant that Hydro is building in New Henderson, Ky. According to the company, the plant will have an initial annual capacity of 90,000 tons. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2000.

Selas will also produce a glass bending and tempering lehr for a Moroccan glass producer. The order, valued in excess of $1.5 million, was received through its Italian subsidiary, Selas Italiana S.r.L. The lehr is scheduled to be completed in January 2001, and will be installed in Casablanca.

Trulite Named Exclusive Fabricator of Warm-Light®

Ontario, Canada’s Trulite Industries Ltd. has become an authorized fabricator of Warm-Light® thermal spacers developed by Azon. Trulite says the exclusive agreement will allow the company to provide customers a spacer that effectively reduces the conductivity and thermal transfer on glass perimeters, and to offer a structural warm-edge spacer for its insulating glass projects. Azon, manufacturer of energy saving products for the fenestration industry, has North American headquarters in Kalamazoo, Mich.  

Flour City International
Expands Into New Manufacturing Facility

Flour City International Inc. of Johnson City, Tenn., has opened a 92,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Kingsport, Tenn. The new facility increases manufacturing capacity as well as operating efficiency. The company says its principal offices, along with design and engineering, will be consolidated into this location.

“This new facility is an important component of Flour City’s long-term growth strategy,” said John W. Tang, Flour City’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Several new projects and increasing demand for our services have made it necessary to expand our manufacturing capacity.”

 Delchem Names
HCI Stanchem as Canadian Distributor

Delchem Inc. of Wilmington, Del., has appointed HCI Stanchem Inc. as its distributor for all Delchem IG sealants throughout Canada. With offices and stocking warehouses across Canada, HCI Stanchem has been involved in chemical distribution to the window industry for the past 20 years.
