Design and Purchase Your Own Skylight Without Leaving Home

Designing skylights is no longer limited to architects, contractors and those trained in the field. Now, with the introduction of e-skylight.com, anyone can design his or her own skylight with about seven clicks of the mouse and just a few minutes. After choosing the size, width, shape, color, glass design and other details of a skylight, the website will calculate the price, with shipping and handling included. There is no obligation to buy, but, those who wish to do so may continue and purchase a
skylight.

According to Mike Descoteaux, e-commerce manager at e-skylight.com, use of the website is both beneficial to the customer for saving time and money. A subsidiary of Architectural Skylight Company, the Waterboro, Maine-based website has been up and running since April.

“Immediately, an order is sent to the manufacturer’s floor and to our material suppliers, so we can cut lead times in half,” Descoteaux said. “The main goal was to simplify the design process, to make it as easy as possible.”

Pilkington’s new website features a number of options, which may be useful to those involved in architectural glass. The site offers the Sun Management Calculator that allows users to calculate glass performance in both monolithic and I.G. unit applications and also generate one of three types of CSI glass specs.

In addition to calculating data for tints, high-performance tints and pyrolytic coated products, the site also features a project profile, photo gallery, answers to FAQs and technical glass bulletins.
