The Industry's Newest Doors and Door Hardware
Doors are pieces of function. Whether open or closed, they are working, performing their multiple duties day-in and day-out. But, they could not perform either duty without the very thing that holds them together: the hardware. This month USGlass is placing both important components—the door and its hardware—in the spotlight. A number of companies have recently introduced products in this area. Read on to find out what the latest additions to the door and door hardware family have been.

On the Patio
L.B. Plastics Inc. of Mooresville, N.C., says it has enhanced the performance of the series 900, its PVC patio door line. The recent improvements allow the line of doors to pass the AAMA/NWDA 101 as an SG-C50 rating for water-resistance performance. The series 900 sliding patio door features a full interlock and fully welded sash for weatherability and durability. In addition, the doors are equipped with a pocketing feature that uses a domed configuration, allowing weatherstripping to fit into the frame completely to seal out weather conditions. The doors come with the option of either a single- or multi-point locking deadbolt system and allow the use of two-, three-, four- or five-panel configurations. The series 900 doors are also available with either a corrosive-resistant or 304-stainless steel hardware package and in a variety of colors, including white, beige, dark brown and two interior-oak woodgrains of light or medium finishes.
Working In the Garden
Fen-Tech Inc. of Superior, Wis., now is marketing its Botanica garden door line, which is manufactured from vinyl compounds. The door comes standard with stainless steel operator hardware, and according to information from the company, the door's multi-hollow, fusion-welded design adds structural integrity to resist warping, bowing and twisting.
Tightening the Bolts
Architectural Products by Outwater LLC of Woodridge, N.J., offers hardware bolts designed for use as a simultaneous top- and bottom-surface and/or flush bolt on the active leaf of an opposing pair of French doors. The solid-brass Cremone bolts easily engage and disengage the single door-length bolt from mortise, universal or end-piece strikes with the turn of a knob, according to the company. The bolts are available in a variety of designs, including barrel, surface and mortise flush bolts.
On the Veranda with SEMCO
Merrill, Wis.-based SEMCO™ Windows and Doors has available a variety of doors, including the Veranda swinging door and the French swinging door.
SEMCO's Veranda swinging door comes with four bright brass hinges applied to each door panel with heights of 5 to 8 feet. The door is equipped with a specially designed sill that resists water leakage, along with a high-performance double weather-stripping system, according to the company. In addition, SEMCO offers the French swinging doors, which it says "open wide and close tight." The doors are equipped with a multi-point locking hardware system and smooth-operating hinges, according to the company. A foam-filled compression weather strip is factory-applied to the entire perimeter of the active panel and seals tightly against the face of the panel to prevent weather conditions from affecting the doors, SEMCO says.

According to the company, the hinge allows for easy adjustment of the door both horizontally and vertically with the turn of a screw. The hinges are available in KTL brass alternative, machine-polished brass, polished chrome, antique brass, stainless steel, grey powder coat, white powder coat, dark brown powder coat, gold powder coat and matte black powder coat.
