SIGMA Co-Founder Passes Away
DeWitt “Mark” W. Markham, a founding member of the Sealed Insulating Glass Manufacturers Association (SIGMA), passed away on December 10. 

Known for his ethics and insistence on doing what was right, Markham led SIGMA in adopting quality and testing standards so members could produce high-quality units. An avid golfer, he is also remembered for his role in organizing the annual SIGMA gold tournament.

Markham went to work for PRC in 1958 and served as general manager, Eastern division, until he retired in 1978. Having served as a SIGMA board member for many years, he was made an honorary board member for life upon retiring from PRC. He served in this capacity until the early 1990s. 

A 1935 graduate of Moorestown Friends High School and a 1939 graduate of Lafayette University, Markham also served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a captain in the artillery division. He entered combat on Christmas Eve during the Battle of the Bulge, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.

He is survived by his wife, Millie; a son, Richard; a daughter, Nancy Albert; and four grandchildren.

Apogee Elects New Board Member
Minneapolis-based Apogee Enterprises Inc. announced that it has elected Robert L. Edwards to its board of directors. Edwards is currently senior vice president, chief financial officer and chief administration officer at Imation Corp ., a manufacturer and supplier of optical and magnetic removable data storage media.

Pabst Takes Over As Bystronic’s V.P. of Glass Processing Systems
RolandBystronic Inc. of Hauppauge, N.Y., announced that Roland Pabst has been promoted to the position of vice president of its glass processing systems division. Pabst, who has been with Bystronic since 2001, previously worked in the container glass industry where he was head engineer and became vice president of the international business worldwide.

Pabst’s new responsibilities include overseeing sales, customer service, billing, training and application, technical support electronics and order management.

Ireland Named Engineering Manager
Wheaton & Sprague Engineering of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, has announced the appointment of Bruce Ireland to the position of engineering manager. Ireland’s new duties include providing product development, engineering and consulting support to clients involved in curtainwall, metal panel facades, concrete anchorage and dimension stone.

Uniglass Engineering Names New CEO
Petri Mölsä has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of Uniglass Engineering, a part of Kyro Technologies’ safety glass technology business group. Previously in charge of maintenance operations at Uniglass Engineering, Mölsä will focus on advancing convection technology in flat tempering furnaces with open heating elements.

DeLong Named Industrial Sales Coordinator
DeLong Adhesives Research Inc. of Glen Rock, Pa., has named Yvonne DeLong as the new industrial sales coordinator/inside sales representative for the industrial business unit. Most recently of Stewart Connector Systems, DeLong brings more than ten years of sales coordination experience to the new position. Her new responsibilities at Adhesives Research Inc. include coordination and assisting with sales leads within the industrial business unit. DeLong will also be responsible for creating sales literature packages, maintaining the customer database, performing market research and monitoring and reporting on all quotation activity.

Morse Industries Makes Changes to Personnel Roster
Amber Bravato and Dean Briggs have joined the team at Kent, Wash.-based Morse Industries. Bravato brings experience in customer service and project management to her new position as a customer support specialist for Morse. 

Briggs has joined the architectural metals and railing supplier as a railing specialist. With a background in customer service and sales, Briggs will use his experience to help increase customer response time and help find solutions for customers’ needs.

In addition, Morse has announced the promotion of Tami St. John to the position of customer support manager. St. John has been with the company for 12 years as an office manager before moving into sales. In her newly created position, St. John will further increase the company’s customer service capabilities.

In addition, Mark Aprill has joined the company as a railing specialist with six years of experience in environmental contracting and medical sales. Sandy Paulsen is a new sales executive with more than 20 years experience in sales and customer service.

Glaspro Forms New Sales Team to Lead Business Development
Glaspro Inc. has announced that it has “formed a new team” of sales professionals to lead business development efforts in the Western United States.

Scott Martineau with Martineau Partners and George Walker with Creative Images are responsible for developing and managing major new business relationships with glass contractors and designers in California and the Pacific Northwest, respectively. “The formation of the team is part of our aggressive strategy to rapidly increase sales of Glaspro and Colorpro products among key players in the West’s architectural markets,” said Joe Green, president of Glaspro Inc. “Scott and George are very knowledgeable, experienced and well-known entities in the glass industry and we’re thrilled to have them working with us.” 

Hiawatha Announces New Sales Manager
Bloomington, Minn.-based Hiawatha Inc. recently announced the promotion of Paul Hattenberger to sales manager. In his new position, Hattenberger will be responsible for overall sales of both glass and door hardware materials. 

Hattenberger has five years of experience in commercial lumber distribution.

CENTRIA Hires Director of Information Technology
CENTRIA of Pittsburgh recently hired John A. Roth as its new director of information technology. In this position, he will be responsible for the operation, support and development of the company’s systems and network and its website and business-to-business web portal.

Roth has an industrial engineering degree and a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Before joining CENTRIA he served as senior systems project leader at United States Steel Corp. and Daxus Inc. He was also the vice president of a start-up company developing manufacturing resources planning software.

IBA Increases International Presence With New Hires
Miami-based IBA Consultants has hired two new additions that will focus on expanding the company’s presence in Latin America and England.

Alejandro Villegas, who has been an architect for 15 years, has been hired as a project manager to expand the company’s ventures in Latin America. 

IBA has also hired Duncan Purvis, an engineer with eight years experience, to manage operations in the London office. Both Purvis and Villegas will be working out of the company’s Miami location before moving to their respective locations.

Bendt Named Director of Business Development 
Bendt Harmon Inc. of Golden Valley, Minn., has hired John Bendt as national director of business development overseeing sales and operations for the company’s glass services. 

Most recently of Otis Elevator Co., Bendt worked in long-term sales with roles in operations and management while completing his master’s degree from Marquette University. Bendt’s responsibilities at Harmon include further developing the company’s glass service teams in addition to supporting maintenance and emergency glass services for buildings’ interiors and exteriors.

H.James Hailey James has also joined Harmon as sales coordinator and estimator for the Illinois area’s glazed exterior needs. Most recently a cost estimator and CADD engineer for a solenoid company, James will now be responsible for providing customers with estimates on materials and square-footage and completing proposals for client contractors.

Mitchell Joins Republic Windows and Doors
Bringing with him 16 years of experience in managing projects and people in senior customer service operation roles, Chris Mitchell has been hired by Republic Windows and Doors in Chicago as the director of customer service. Mitchell’s new duties include designing, developing and managing initiatives that incorporate people development, process improvements and technology applications in customer services capacities. 

Formerly with APAC Customer Services Inc., Mitchell holds a master’s degree from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University of Chicago.
