Oldcastle Glass and Arpal Aluminum Team
to Offer Security Glazing Options
Oldcastle Glass and Israel’s Arpal Aluminum Systems Ltd. have announced the formation of a joint venture known as Oldcastle-Arpal LLC. In an effort to bring secure glazing solutions to government agencies worldwide, Oldcastle, an architectural glass supplier, and Arpal, a blast-mitigation glazing company, teamed to reach agencies and commercial building developers throughout the Western hemisphere.
In a statement released by Ted Hathaway, chief executive officer of Oldcastle Glass, he said, “With our newly formed partnership with Arpal Aluminum Systems Ltd., we are pleased to offer architects and engineers the most innovative and technically advanced glazing systems available, which satisfy both governmental and, commercial blast-mitigation specifications.”
“We admire [Oldcastle’s] ability to offer glass solutions for virtually any concept an architect can create, and feel that our blast-mitigation technology will further enhance their product offering. Moreover, we believe that Oldcastle Glass’s vast reach and focus on marketing, sales and customer service will bring our blast mitigation technology to architects across North America,” said Moty Emek, founder, chief engineer and director of Arpal Aluminum Systems and vice president and chief technical officer of the new joint company.

Juba Aluminum Products Certified as Woman-Owned Business
Juba Aluminum Products Co., a glazing contractor of Concord, N.C., has announced that the National Women Business Owners Corp. (NWBOC) has certified it as a business that is owned and controlled by a woman. Janet Harris-Lange, NWBOC president, presented the certification to Juba in February.
“We are grateful to have national certification as an alternative to the multiple state and local certifications required by the many agencies,” said Joni D. Juba, chief executive officer. “This program will enable us to develop relationships with larger companies and create opportunities for future partnerships with them and public and private companies. The impact of this certification will open opportunities for us to bid work in areas that have otherwise been restricted.”
|Edgetech Named a Preferred Supplier by Pella
Pella Corp., located in Pella, Iowa, has recognized Edgetech I.G. Inc. of Cambridge, Ohio, as a preferred supplier. Using a 100-point rating system that focuses on timeliness of delivery, material quality, cost saving activity, service and documentation, suppliers must maintain an average of 85 points for one year prior to being considered for preferred supplier status.
“Only about 1 percent of the suppliers earn this recognition,” said Edgetech executive vice-president Larry Johnson. We’re extremely proud of everyone at Edgetech who helped us achieve this goal.”
“To qualify, a company has to be a leader in almost all of the selection criteria,” said Randy Belding, senior supply manager for Pella, further noting that Edgetech excelled greatly in the design and sales support areas.
