PPG Certifies Twenty-Five Fabricators

Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries has announced that 25 architectural glass facilities in North America have now been certified as part of the PPG Certified Fabricator Program. PPG says it now has the largest number of members since the program’s launch in 2001.

“Since establishing this innovative business model for architectural glass fabrication and delivery, we have made construction project scheduling easier and more reliable by removing glass from the critical path,” said Scott Smith, PPG architectural market manager. “We are seeing high-performance, energy-saving glasses specified on construction projects where they were precluded in the past by tight schedules and glass delivery lead times historically as along as 12 to 20 weeks. Now, PPG Certified Fabricator Program members deliver these highly desirable glasses routinely within three to four weeks, and most job site damage replacements in days,” said Scott.

New Express Service Program Underway at YKK

To help customers ensure they have all their materials in the necessary lead times, Austell, Ga.-based YKK AP has created the YKK Express Service! (YES!™).

According to the company, the new program is designed to meet the demanding requirements of today’s construction cycles by allowing customers to order up to 15 custom doors and frames from YKK’s Dublin fabrication facility. YKK says with the new program customers will have short and consistent lead times and orders will ship directly to customers in ten working days from the date YKK receives the order.
