Does the Northeast Reflect Savings?
Although replacing a rectangular bathroom mirror might seem like a simple, straightforward task, there is a large discrepancy in the amount of money various glass and mirror shops will charge for such a job. Installation fees for the mirror can often inflate prices to preposterous proportions—in fact, more often than not, installation costs more than the mirror!

This month, USGlass called five shops in the Northeastern cities of Philadelphia, Boston, and Buffalo, N.Y., and asked for estimates on a replacement for a 42- by 32-inch bathroom mirror with both a polished edge and a half-inch beveled edge. The results prove that big-city dwellers might want to be especially careful with their mirrors, as prices in Philadelphia and Boston dwarfed those of the smaller Buffalo. Overall, prices ranged from a low $72 in Buffalo to $320 in Boston for the polished edge, and a low $120 in Buffalo to $410 in Boston for the beveled edge. All prices include installation.
