Solar Seal Announces Personnel Changes
Solar Seal Co. has announced three personnel changes.
Vincent Burke has been promoted to sales manager, and is now responsible for the overall sales functions for insulating glass units, commercial doors, frameless shower enclosures and custom slump glass. He has more than 20 years experience in the glass industry.
David Adamson will be filling Burke’s previous role as a regional sales representative. He has 20 years of experience in sales and marketing. Prior to joining Solar Seal, he worked in the sealant and adhesives industry. Adamson’s territory includes Rhode Island, Massachusetts and upstate New York.
In addition, Marc Corbett has joined Solar Seal as a sales representative. Previously, he worked for Marriott Hotel Corp. as a chief engineer in charge of opening new hotels and renovations in the New York area. His territory will include Connecticut, Metropolitan New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
AFG Promotes Dougherty to VP
AFG Industries of Kingsport, Tenn., has named Tom Dougherty vice president of manufacturing. According to the company, Dougherty will be directly responsible for all AFG float plants and will be based at AFG’s corporate offices in Kingsport.
A native of Kingsport, Dougherty is a 1968 graduate of East Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in physics. After serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Army’s military police, Dougherty joined AFG’s Greenland plant in 1972 as melting supervisor. In 1989, he started at AFG’s Spring Hill, Kan., plant as facility manager and was named plant manager of the Greenland facility in 1990.
Wausau Names New Rep
Wausau Window and Wall Systems® of Wausau, Wis., has named Bill Strait as its r epresentative for the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
Previously serving as a project manager with the company in Wausau, Strait will relocate to Mason, Mich., where he will work with regional sales manager Les Raboin and Eastern Michigan representative Mike Augustine.
Prior to joining Wausau, Strait worked as a project manager with Curtain Wall Design and Consulting in Dallas, where he assisted with such prominent buildings as San Francisco Civic Center and San Diego Convention Center.
PGT Announces Executive Appointments
PGT Industries of Venice, Fla., has announced the promotion of Rod Hershberger to vice president/general manager of its Florida operations, and Debbie LaPinska to vice president, sales and customer service.
Hershberger, one of PGT’s co-founders, has held a variety of strategic positions within the company during his more than 20-year tenure, including the design of a number of major products. In his new position he will be responsible for manufacturing, transportation and logistics operations in Florida. Most recently, he served as vice president of manufacturing.
LaPinska brings 20 years of customer service and sales experience to her new position, including 11 years with PGT. She has been responsible for developing leadership within customer service, as well as incorporating new tools and resources to improve order processing cycle times. Most recently LaPinska held the position of director, national and international sales.

PGC Elects New Board Officers and Members
At its meeting taking place June 2-3 in San Francisco, the Protective Glazing Council (PGC) elected its new board officers and members. The following will be officers:
Scott Haddock, GlassLock, president; Julie Schimmelpenningh, Solutia Inc., vice president; Sara Perron, Viracon, secretary; and Darrell Smith, AIMCAL, treasurer.
