PPG Names New Business Manager, Construction Market Team
Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries recently announced that Patrick J. Kenny has assumed the position of business manager for the construction market team.
The flat glass marketing director since 1999, Kenny has been with PPG since 1980 and now oversees the marketing that will target the construction industry for PPG Flat Glass as well as architectural finishes and industrial finishes.

“[He] is uniquely qualified for this new assignment due to his proven track record in marketing, sales, strategy development and implementation and deep knowledge of the construction market,” said Keith Prins, industrial finishes general manager.

CRL Announces Changes to Technical Sales Department
Los Angeles-based C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. (CRL) has announced two new assignments in its technical sales department.

Jesse Hynes has been assigned the position of director of glass railing systems within the technical sales department, and David Cain is the new director of glass and glazing in the same department.

“CRL’s technical sales department has grown rapidly, and these changes were made to better define the department, and to serve the best interests of our customers,” said Brad Murphy, head of the technical sales department.

Graham Names Martin as Vice President of Sales and Marketing 
Graham Architectural Products of York, Pa., has named William (Bill) G. Martin Jr. as its vice president of sales and marketing. Previously, Martin served as Graham’s director of sales and marketing and, more recently, as a member of its board of directors. 

Martin, who has spent ten years at Graham, has supervised national sales and developed targeted marketing programs, which the company says contributed to 417 percent growth at the Graham Companies window and door division.

In his new position Martin will continue to be responsible for corporate strategic market planning, new product introductions, including advertising, public relations and multi-media support programs. 

Martin also represents Graham at various industry meetings such as the American Architectural Manufacturers Association and the National Fenestration Rating Council. 

Kuchenrither Named CFO for Arch Aluminum & Glass
Arch Aluminum and Glass Co. Inc. of Tamarac, Fla., has announced the appointment of Mark Kuchenrither to the position of chief financial officer (CFO). 

Kuchenrither has an extensive finance background in manufacturing, working with both public and private companies. He began his career as an entry-level cost accountant, and worked his way up in positions of increasing responsibility, culminating as the CFO and treasurer of a large electronics manufacturing company. 

He has bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering technology and accounting and a master’s degree in business administration. 

Lewington Appointed Director of Sales for Saint-Gobain BayForm
Roger Lewington has been appointed to the position of director of sales for Saint-Gobain BayForm.

Lewington has been with the company since 1984 and has held a number of positions within the company’s technical fabrics sales organization. He most recently served as national sales manager for distributed construction products. In his new role, he will be working with the company’s Excellerator™ automated assembled screen program.

Hershberger Promoted to Executive Vice President and COO for PGT
PGT Industries has announced the promotion of Rod Hershberger to the position of executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO). Prior to the promotion he served as vice president and general manager for the company’s Florida operations. In his new role he will be responsible for PGT’s Florida and North Carolina operations, sales, marketing and engineering groups.

Hershberger is one of the company’s co-founders and has held a variety of positions during his tenure.

“Throughout his 23 years of experience with PGT, Rod has had the opportunity to learn all aspects of the business,” said Randy White, PGT president. “This, along with his can-do attitude, has uniquely positioned him as a leader that PGT will need for the company’s continued future success.”

AFG Announces Several Position Changes 
Kingsport, Tenn.-based AFG Industries Inc. has announced several promotions and appointments.

Kernie Timmons will serve as the company’s corporate director of quality. Timmons has been with AFG since 1980. 

Tom Osucha has been promoted to plant manager for the Blue Ridge facility. Osucha has been with AFG since 1983 as a process engineer for the Greenland, Tenn., facility. 

In addition, Mike Gerstner is a new plant manager in Spring Hill, Kan., as is Jamie Culbertson in Greenland.

Gerstner has been with AFG since 1996, joining as a technical development engineer. Culbertson began his career with AFG in 1983 in a variety of managerial roles before transferring to the company’s Spring Hill plant in 1988 as production manager. 

Also in Greenland, Ben Edwards will be the new production manager and Tim Gardner will be the new technical manager.

Edwards has served as technical manager since 1996. He has been with AFG since 1984. 

Gardner has been with AFG since 1987. Most recently he served as the float superintendent of line 1.

Harmon Hires New Safety Administrator and Credit Manager
Headquartered in Golden Valley, Minn., Harmon Inc. has hired Michael Anderson as safety coordinator. Anderson will assist with OSHA filing, fleet safety and internal safety awards for all of the company’s locations.

Anderson is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society of Safety Engineers. He has a master’s degree in environmental health and safety, and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

Harmon has also announced the hiring of Renia Coleman as credit manager.

Previously, Coleman was with Checkpoint Security Systems Group as a supervisor for credit and collection. Prior to that, she was employed as a senior credit analyst for Chicago’s Tribune Co. and as committee chairperson for the Tribune Finance Service Center awards committee. 

She is a member of the National Association of Credit Managers.

ATOFINA’s Brian Edgecombe Participates in NAE Symposium
ATOFINA Chemicals Inc. of Philadelphia has announced that its research scientist, Brian Edgecombe, Ph.D., was selected to take part in the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) ninth annual Symposium on Frontiers of Engineering due to his work within the area of polymer science. Edgecombe works for the company’s Atoglas polymethylmethacrylate business.

“Being selected as a participant in this conference is certainly an honor for me personally, but it’s also a recognition of the quality research and development conducted at ATOFINA,” said Edgecombe. 

The symposium took place at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center of the National Academy of Engineering in Irvine, Calif., September 18-20.
