University of Minnesota Workshop
Named for Minnesota Glazing Contractor
The University of Minnesota’s College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture Work-shop (CALA) has been named in honor of William L. (Bill) Hall and the W.L. Hall Co., a Minnesota-based glazing contractor.
The W.L. Hall Workshop is designed to provide students an environment to investigate materials, build models, create conceptual, three dimensional forms and explore possibilities and properties of materials and building processes.
“The support of Bill Hall and his company has been invaluable in furthering the college’s ability to provide students with top-notch facilities,” said Sue Danielson Bretheim, CALA’s director of development. “In the W.L. Hall Workshop students get extensive, hands-on experience with building materials and processes.”
Hall has been a volunteer for the college and has served on its advisory board. In 2000 he was made an AIA honorary member.
“Quite simply, I believe architecture helps define the fabric of our society,” said Hall. “Whether it be where we work, play, learn or worship, architecture enables the human spirit to perform its best.”
